Overall, the property was decent. The access to the beach was easy and just a few short steps away. Along with the breakfast buffet, which had a touch of Mexican-style cooking, it made breakfast an event to look forward to. We did not end up purchasing the all-inclusive package as we found enjoyable and variety of restaurants in the nearby small town.
However, there were a few concerns that deemed this hotel a 3-stars and not a 5-star establishment. First, visiting in June (low season) meant high humidity with average temperatures of 90 degrees plus. We arrived in our room with the AC turned off, causing considerable sweat as we unloaded our luggage. Second, more than half of the AC was blocked off by two pointless doors, preventing the room from cooling properly.
We reported it to the front desk, but they only sent a technician with no follow-up. After a few hours, we returned to the front desk, this time with pictures showing the pointless doors and our dissatisfaction. Initially, we were met with pushback and excuses that the doors were part of the design and could not be removed. Only after further persistence and threatening to write negative reviews did they agree to try removing the doors, which they eventually did in a timely manner. After the doors were removed, the room cooled down tremendously.
Overall, the hotel received 3 stars and lost a returning customer not because of the amenities' shortcomings but because of the staff's initial pushback.
