Top neighborhoods in Tokyo

Shinjuku

Shinjuku's neon-soaked streets pulse with energy from dusk till dawn. This Tokyo powerhouse mixes business with pleasure as skyscrapers tower over Asia's largest entertainment district. Browse massive department stores like Isetan by day, then dive into Kabukicho's countless bars and clubs after dark. Don't miss cultural gems like Hanazono Shrine tucked between the urban chaos. Getting around couldn't be easier with the world's busiest railway hub connecting you to everywhere in Tokyo. Choose from business hotels in gleaming towers or budget-friendly capsule accommodations. The neighborhood offers everything from quick ramen shops to upscale dining, with most spots open well into the night.

Shibuya

Shibuya's sensory overload is exactly what you came to Tokyo for. The iconic crossing has thousands of people surging across in perfect chaos while towering screens flash overhead. Accommodations lean toward luxury hotels with impeccable service, though guests pay premium prices to stay here. Evenings bring a sophisticated scene with well-dressed locals enjoying fine dining and theatrical performances.

Stroll through Nakamise Shopping Street's colorful stalls selling traditional crafts and sweet ningyo-yaki cakes. The neighborhood buzzes with authentic cultural experiences from rickshaw rides to artisan workshops where you can watch masters practice centuries-old crafts. Dining options range from tempura houses to soba shops, with street food vendors offering affordable local treats. Traditional ryokan inns and boutique hotels let you sleep on tatami floors with futon beds. Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Haneda Airport - Directly connected to Haneda Airport Terminal 3

10/10 Excellent
"The convenience of having the hotel available to rest at right after a long flight was wonderful. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff were helpful. The check-in kiosk was easy to use. There are many restaurants and shops to choose from which are close by. The train station nearby was convenient to use. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back."

"The hotel is relatively central in Shinjuku. It's easy enough to get around but it lacked some of the attention to detail cleanliness and service as some of the other hotels I've stayed in in Japan. No a bad deal but not the best deal."

8/10 Good
"Had a lovely stay at the Tobu Hotel with my spouse. The staff were helpful, and accomidating in getting us set up in our room. They also helped us arrange a taxi for one of our evenings activities. The hotel is conviently located near Kinschencho Station which makes public transit a breeze. There is also a Don Quixote nearby ehich makes last minute souvenir shopping super convenient! The hotel also has a nice lobby providing a classy feel and ambience. Room wise, we ordered the double room and found it had more than enough space which was nice after our muxh smaller room in Kyoto. We did not request a tower view, but still found the view to be quite nice, with the city spread out around us (we were also able to still see the tower). Our only real complaint is that the tub was a bit slick to stand in while showering, which made footing precarious. The bathroom was also had a low ceiling which was bothersome for my 5'7 husband. There were also not a lot of outlets and outlet placement was a bit inconvenient for charging devices. Otherwise it was fantastic and we would definitely stay again."

10/10 Excellent
"Beds were comfy. Rooms were very clean and quiet, despite loud people on the street below. Great location for exploring Shinjuku on foot. Lots of restaurants nearby, and lots of accomodation for English speakers. Great access to multiple public transport lines within walking distance. Would highly recommend to first time travellers who want an affordable hotel near the nightlife and day activities. The breakfast buffet was very yummy, with many choices of both western and Japanese dishes. Many staff speak enough English to assist you with whatever you may need."

This affordable period offers great value for money on a budget, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Tokyo's rich history and vibrant culture.

  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your Tokyo hotel stay. For those interested in unique experiences, boutique hotels might offer a more personalised service and potentially better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is higher or lower than average. Should the price be on the higher side, we might suggest more affordable dates to help you find a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels located near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but thanks to Tokyo's superb public transport links, you might come across a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby cities, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could offer a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
