4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Japan
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable times to visit Japan are in January, June, and September, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those on a budget, a stay of at least 2 days is recommended to effectively explore Japan’s key landmarks and cultural attractions. During this time, visitors can discover historical sites, cultural experiences, and natural wonders that offer great value for money. With careful planning, prices may drop further, making it an even more budget-friendly option for travellers.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals in Japan, visit the Dealsopens in new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. To stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com. The Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so you’re more likely to see the best options. This way, if rooms become available or prices drop, you'll be among the first to know, making it easier to secure that last-minute escape.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a better deal on your hotel stay in Japan. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised atmosphere and can sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price seems to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could potentially be more affordable.
Consider your location: Staying in the heart of major Japanese cities can be incredibly convenient, as it places you within easy reach of local attractions. However, this prime location is often accompanied by higher accommodation costs. In contrast, smaller towns and rural areas are generally more likely to be affordable, allowing you to enjoy a more budget-conscious stay. For those looking to save on lodging, opting for hotels just outside the city centre may present a more economical option, though it could necessitate some extra travel to reach key sights. Additionally, exploring nearby cities can reveal a wealth of experiences while also offering more budget-friendly choices.
