Great location
The hotel location was great and the staff was wonderful. The bathroom was very unusual. Definitely the least functional part of the room. The shower got water all over the floor. The main part of the hotel was absolutely beautiful! Overall, the day was good and I would recommend it. Just be aware. The bathroom will not be the best part of your stay.

Awesome location and price! Convenient walk to Prado, Palacio Real and downtown area is 20 minutes away, walk another 20 and you get to Templo de Debid and the park around it. Staff very friendly and helpful. Just would have liked softer pillows.

Fabulous experience
I absolutely loved this hotel. This boutique hotel is so quaint and adorable. It was so clean and comfortable. The bed bedding was absolutely amazing and I stayed here with my family. I recommend getting the suite because it has the bedroom separate and the bunkbeds are in the living space. Pay a little extra to get that balcony space it is absolutely breathtaking and so unique. Everyone at this hotel was fabulous. Restaurant is small, but they have a lot of options and the lounge was very comfortable. For the price it was unbeatable. This neighborhood is the nicest neighborhood in all Madrid and this hotel is super affordable. If I ever come back to Madrid, I’m definitely staying here. You’re right in front of the park and it’s just so walkable.

Description of the property is totally misleading. This is a 2 star hotel at best. Towels and bedding were old and worn. Dirty curtains and shower full of stains. Hallways were filthy, carpets full of stains. Should be advertised as a youth hostel.

The place was outdated. Cheap material. Stained carpets. Leak stain on the bathroom ceiling. Floor board tile was separated from the wall. Bathroom cabinet was broken! I don’t know why it has good reviews. It was misleading. Location of the hotel was great but nothing positive about the place itself. Big disappointment!

Excellent place to stay at Retiro in Madrid This petit palace Alfonso XII has great location in front of beautiful Retiro park and walking distance from Alcala's Gate, Prado and Reina Sofia Museums and close to Atocha train station. A few blocks from Cibeles fountain where I had the chance to be part of the Real Madrid Celebration. I highly recommend the buffet option since the food selection was excellent.

Staff was very nice and friendly. But the hotel did not feel very nice and clean. The room did not look like the pictures. It seemed worn and dirty. The view from our room was not good. We recently stayed at many 3 star hotels that were much nicer than this. Not worth the cost.
