4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Tokyo

  1. Book for the cheapest times: January, August, and September present a budget-friendly time to visit Tokyo, as hotels may drop to lower prices during these months. A stay of at least 2 to 3 days is ideal for exploring key landmarks, historical sites, and cultural attractions such as temples, museums, monuments, urban shopping areas, architectural gems, flower exhibitions, natural parks, and seafood experiences. This affordable period offers great value for money on a budget, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Tokyo's rich history and vibrant culture.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Discover DealsOpens in a new window and Last-Minute Deals to Tokyo on Hotels.com, where you may find attractive hotel deals and recommendations across Japan, including Tokyo. For last-minute getaways, you could find discounted hotels near your travel date by visiting the relevant section. Additionally, enable email alerts or push notifications to stay informed about flash sales and special promotions. With the Smart Shopping tool available via the app, you're more likely to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you never miss a chance to snag a timely deal.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your Tokyo hotel stay. For those interested in unique experiences, boutique hotels might offer a more personalised service and potentially better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is higher or lower than average. Should the price be on the higher side, we might suggest more affordable dates to help you find a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels located near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but thanks to Tokyo's superb public transport links, you might come across a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby cities, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could offer a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
