Honest Review with first Time Visit To DR
Your experience overall will come from the types of Hotels you have stayed at. Some of the things we were used to such as being in the pool and ordering food and drink isn't done here, its just drinks and in certain pools. Rooms are standard and could use a makeover. Even our room with the personal swimming pool had only 1 standard American Plug which was a nightmare, but the other rooms have them all over. Very quiet and the entertainment is lacking. The breakfast is standard and i feel needs a bit more variety because if your there 7 days your eating standard breakfast food and really cant mix it up. The restaurants food was made very well and the Pizza at Sorento was some of the best i ever had from a resort or cruise. The Welcome breakfast is a timeshare pitch, so if you feel like its worth the 30 minute massage you will be set back 2/3 hours so do the math, but for us it wasnt worth it. They will push it but not to the point you feel trapped. Its a business so if you go there knowing what to expect just let it roll off you. The drinks were ok but but not anything top shelf. The real stars of the resort honestly were the employees especially in the bars and restaurants. Anuery was a one man show. no slight to the other workers but it was to the point you had to question if he even needed others around him because he was everywhere doing everything. Not a bad Resort at all. Again it really depends on what you experienced before. It is excellent for those new to mid tier.

It is a very nice place and very decent. I will definitely come again. What i did not like were the Time share people hounding you around and trying to sell you stuff. This was an inconvenience in my opinion. Also, my wristwatch was missing at the pool side and was never found.

Our stay at Catalonia was superb and fantastic. I have many great things to say about the resort. The separate adult side was very convenient although we did head over to the family side for some activities. The food was amazing, multiple restaurants to choose from and all were very good. Staff and cleaning for the most part were all friendly (helps if you tip often though). Beach access was great although the cons are the excursion sellers can get VERY annoying. Made us not want to go to the beach at times. Another con was the “Exclusive Travelers Club” pitch of 3 hours that they try to sucker you into but have to be firm on saying no since they ask for so much money to join. Otherwise, our stay was amazing and would recommend this place to anyone. Very safe and welcoming atmosphere.

The staff was absolutely phenomenal - special shout out to the servers Luis, Isabel, and Enrique for making the experience so special, among so many others. I also was a bit worried going into an all inclusive as I have a severe gluten allergy. Every single restaurant menu was labelled with which food options could be made gluten free, and the lunch buffet had a designated separate area for celiac-friendly foods. I have never had this much ease finding food options when traveling, especially in another country. Additionally, our massages and spa services were phenomenal, and the staff really goes out of their way to take care of guests.

First night when me and my husband arrived to the hotel it was around 6 pm , expected our room should be ready for us and that was the reason I booked my flight to be arrive in early evening. I'm sure enough time was given. ( Check -in time was 3pm ) . We've arrived at the hotel at 6 pm .The resort is huge no lies, tons of hotel staffs. But our room wasn't ready ! OMG ! They can't give us any answer except wait , wait , wait , after half and hour we are hungry and we still waiting for our room . I told the front desk we need to eat because its 7 pm already , they said ok , by the time we finish our dinner was 8:30pm . Guess what still not ready until 9 pm . Room was ok, except refrigerator was broken went to the front desk they tell me go back to the room NOW so someone will be coming, wait till midnight no one came. The next day we went to the front desk again , we told the housekeeper, people with difference attire uniforms . The third days of our staying we finally have a maintence guy come in to check the fridge and replaced. The most simplest hotel room ever been . 2 bath towels and a floor towel thats it . Throughout the entire hotel they expect you to use QR code ( on the phone all the time ). Dinner needs reservation , room service forget it order it at 9pm no one came at all . Dial 0 to the front desk no one answer. Only few staff are nice but others especially those in the shopping area, they look like they want to beat you up. Will not returning .

This property was everything we needed. It was really nice that there are different cuisines to choose from for dinner, however as everyone else says where the heck is the authentic dominican food?! Our room was clean upon arrival, however the fridge didn't get very cold and the iron did not work. But with all things said and done would definitely come back ! Also, for anyone staying on the adults only side, there is alot more activities on the family side !
