Really loved it here. Perfect for a three night stay. We'd driven in from Vegas and were able to find overnight parking (paid) up the block. It was easy to get to the subway and therefore Universal. The bed were so comfy and the shower was amazingg! Also had a HDMI cable in the TV stand which was handy. Coffee machine, kettle, oven, hob, dishwasher and fridge in the kitchen was great.

The photos looked good, but the stay wasn't great.
Overall, the price and photos of this hotel look ideal. The stay was challenging. First, unless you download and sign up to their app, it is pretty inconvenient. They have 3 times you need input 6 numbers into keypads before getting to your room -- and the kypads are old and aren't sensitive. Two of the three elevators were down. The room has no carpet, and concrete floors. It was cold and just didn't feel like a place I wanted to spend time. It is very pretty, but once you are inside for awhile, it just doesn't feel good. There weren't great amenities, or a local grocery store, despite having a kitchen. I asked for no one to enter, and then weirdly a towel disappeared from the room, and the lights were on once when I came back. It felt like someone had been in there. The neighborhood didn't feel safe. Also, when you sign up to stay here, there is a long online process of uploading your ID and other information prior to the stay. I recommend a less time intensive choice.

The apartment looks like it was renovated not so long ago. It is well-appointed, with a functional kitchen and very nice bathroom. My only real problem with the place was the street noise. The apartment is just one floor above street level with large, single glazed windows. During the day there is quite a racket from noisy engines and car sound systems. To make matters worse, there is a liquor store almost directly opposite that stays open late and the customers were pretty loud sometimes. I had booked 3 nights, but left after 2 as I couldn't stand it.

We had the best time at Sonder. It was our first time at a Sonder and I was a bit hesitant because the price was a great find for the area over the dates I needed. The reviews stating the area is a bit rough aren’t totally wrong but I would say if you have a good sense of your surroundings it’s really no different than any other downtown area. The hotel itself was very safe and secure and the app made entering and exiting quickly very easy! The location had a lot of great walkable coffee shops and dining options (again, using your best judgement on getting around safely) and had a small, reasonable priced, parking lot right next to it ($30/night) as well as hourly meters out front. The room was extremely well cleaned and had all the amenities I could possibly need. It was a bit noisy in the evenings with street cars and sirens but I appreciated the complimentary ear buds to help with this very common city stay challenge. Thank you Sonder for an awesome stay!
