About this home

Take a trip to Cushing, Maine and stay at the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom vacation rental guest house that has room to sleep 4 guests. This home is located on the St. George River and overlooks the water with lobster boats! Purchase lobster, explore the historic Olson House, take a ferry to Vinalhaven or North Haven, and explore Camden during your visit to Maine’s majestic coast.

Master Bedroom: Queen Bed | Bedroom 2: 2 Twin Beds

Return to your home-away-from-home after purchasing fresh lobster from the nearby docks and start preparing a delicious dinner in the well-equipped kitchen (extra freezer in basement)! You'll find everything you need to make a great Maine meal.

Gather around the dining table and enjoy your feast! After dinner, head out to the large wraparound deck overlooking the water to relax and appreciate the peaceful surroundings. Take a walk down to the seasonal dock to get even closer to the water.

If you start to get a little chilly, head inside and light the wood-burning fireplace. Get cozy on the couch and watch a show or movie on the flat-screen Smart TV or just hang out with your travel companions.

As you grow sleepy, retire to the bedrooms. Whether you're staying in the master bedroom or the twin bedroom, you'll enjoy access to the wraparound deck and sleep-filled nights.

*Please note that the homeowner lives on site, in a completely separate unit, and may be present during your stay*

Next door to the guest house is the Olson House which has been the subject of numerous works of art by Andrew Wyeth including the iconic Christina's World. You'll have the opportunity to learn more about Christina and Alvaro Olson and life on a saltwater farm during the first half of the 20th century.

Head to Rockland, less than 30 minutes away, and catch the ferry to either Vinalhaven or North Haven. Catch views of the lighthouses along the way and explore the islands for the day.

About 40 minutes away is the town of Camden which features a plethora of walking trails, a historic district, and antique and upscale shops. For a sailor's dream come true, head to the harbor and embark on a sailing tour and excursion!

    Adult Getaway

We stayed at this house with another couple and it was nothing short of amazing! Everything was clean, the views were amazing, and everything was comfortable. The only thing I wish we would have known is that there is not a full size refrigerator, but that would not have stopped us from staying here. We would definitely rent this place again!

    Beautiful and restful

The setting was beautiful and the cottage comfortable and gracious. I loved having my morning coffee on the front deck looking out on the ocean. We loved the open and comfortable main space layout. It made for easy and comfortable space to all be together and supported many a good conversation. Walking through the meadow paths Across the street from the Olsson house was simply magical. A beautiful and restful spot for couples who needed a space to recharge

    Best ever

We enjoyed a week in this wonderful, well-maintained house that has an exceptionally beautiful aesthetic. It was spotless, so very comfortable and well-situated for day trips. Owner was available if needed. N & L

    More than we expected

Exactly as described. Very private, beautiful property. Had everything we needed. Not close to any stores so bring supplies. Lobster were available down the street at the wharf. Only 30 minutes from Camden, 15 to grocery. So fortunate that this family is sharing this beautiful guest house to vacationers.

    Marvelous cottage!

Beautiful spot in Maine! Cozy and peaceful. Well appointed and enjoyed the beautiful fireplace. Wish there was a full refrigerator - the under counter refrigerator/freezer would not keep ice cream frozen. Would stay here again!

    Comfortable Cushing Cottage

The home is charming with a beautiful view, gorgeous landscaping and located in a quiet area. The house is very comfortable with wonderful bedding. It was well-equipped with paper towels, cleaning and detergents etc. As has been noted, the fridge is quite small. There was plenty of firewood provided which made evenings warm and cozy. The owner responded immediately to our questions. There is a wharf close by where arrangements can be made to deliver lobsters and tie them at the dock! No question about cooking them in sea water, a method of which we were unaware. Do try it! One caveat, the dock is only accessible by a dirt path next to the house. The picture on the web site looks as though it’s from the main house. There is a great small grocery in Thomaston, as well as the Thomaston Cafe. We have rented several times in Maine and this was our favorite by far.
