Obviously I DO NOT recommend this place…
There were cockroaches in the room and the bathroom... I mentioned it to Sandra, the manager, and she did nothing about it. She ignored me. I sent her the text and the photos. She got angry... and I just stayed quiet... SHE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT TREATING THE GUEST WELL.

The date of check in we arrived late the area was secluded and the building next to this hotel had a notice of legal closure due to human trafficking. My first priority was my family safety which both Expedia and the hotel disregarded. The hotel was dirty, the ac was not working most days and there was no hot water. The experience was horrible

Balam Playa
The room had very dim light and some of the hallways and stairs were unlit. The pooll was unlit. I told the clerk about the light and he said they were aware. The door to bathroom was off one of the hinges. Toilet barely flushed. I had to use a bucket. I would not go there again

This property is very close to 5th avenue and there's a lot of little local restaurants really close that are absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to most budget travellers BUT with a caveat: there's a night club a half block away that plays obnoxiously loud music that shakes the walls of the hotel until after 3am. If you are in Playa to party, this hotel is for you, if you're there to relax and get any amount of sleep, it might not be your best option.

The property was central to many things, and restaurants, laundry services, convenience stores were all within a block or so. There was a nearby club so if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs. The hot water takes a long time but that's not an issue if you do cold showers to wake up. Overall good value if you value location over other factors.

We did not spend much time in Playa, it was just a quick stay. The location is good but housekeeping could work a little on dusting the bathroom door & sweeping floors. There was a little sand in places. Also, the shampoo didn't lather, maybe it was eco friendly. Generally it was satisfactory for the price.

This hotel is closed down by authorities
This hotel had banners and stickers stating that it's "clausurado", this means that the authorities found reasons to shut it down. They are still conducting business in an illegal manner. They check you in through a little window and make you go to another building where the room was smelly and filled with dead bugs. Didn't stay there and money wasn't refunded.

we had black mold on the closet wall and the window in the bathroom was missing the glass so noise was bad but I had ear plugs, and if someone wanted to get into your room it would be easy to use a credit card to open no dead bolt locks, everything you need is close by including beach two blocks away.

Put in a room that had no glass in the window, and they hit it behind a curtain. They wouldn’t switch my room, that area is not a safe area at night at all, and the hotel is near one of the loudest clubs that play electronic music till 3 in the morning.
