It's cheap, because it is cheap!
Paid £38 for a night in a solo room. Which was about 6 foot by 10 foot. Yes no joke, it was like a cupboard with no windows, but it had a radiator on which meant the room was really hot with only a stand up desk fan to try and cool it down (assuming you could figure out how the raditator worked because the knob is unclear what setting it's on. It's basically an annex to the main pub, which isn't probably one you would take your family too. Shared bathroom, which was decent enough though the pipes underneath the room leaked dripping into the corridor outside. Walls are paper thin so if you got neighbours, good luck. Breakfast was adequate, it's nothing special, a few basic items for a fried breakfast, some toast and cereal and coffee available. Standard. In the end you're paying a cheap price, but then you're getting cheap. Room alone is probably barely a £25 rate. I needed a quick solo stop off, it did the job, but if I was staying multiple nights, I'd be more hesitant.

Staff were very welcoming. The property could do with updating. Breakfast was mediocre. Everything was basic, but the property was clean

Arrived on foot from the nearest bus stop. The pub hanging sign is missing so i entered the premises and confirmed with the cheery lady working the bar that i was in the right place😁 After the paperwork was completed i had to pay a £50 non-smoking deposit which i expect to see refunded onto my card. I was shown to room 13, a single room, as booked and also shown where the washroom was. The room contained a kettle, tea, coffee, a fan, a nightlight and a small flat screen TV, so was well appointed. The time for breakfast was also discussed and selected. All the staff i encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cereal, toast and also a cooked meal as well. Fried egg, grilled tomato, baked beans, 2 sausages and 3 rashers of bacon. Perfect! On leaving, i asked where the nearest bus stop was which headed out of town. Turns out that it is right opposite the pub! Again, perfect! For those driving, there is a car park accessible to the rear of the property via Chiltern Road.

I was okay with using this one as a last resort until they stopped me checking in and staying during my last booking and kept my money.

Good, clean and comfortable rooms
A good place to stay that’s functional - it’s a room in a pub accessed up some fairly steep stairs but the rooms have been modernised to a good standard and are pleasant for an overnight stay. I would stay there again if I visited the area .

Good stay, would stay again.
Friendly welcome and even through the Inn area was loud and busy, when we went over to the rooms the noise disappeared so we were very happy about that. Comfortable beds and complementary tea/coffee, shower gel etc. Slept well and the breakfast included was very tasty. They even catered to us being vegetarian (we only told them that night).

I needed a place to stay whilst visiting close friends. This place seemed close by and ideal. And I wasn't disappointed. Lovely helpful staff, the rooms were exactly what I needed for a good night's sleep (no thrills and frills), and breakfast in the morning. Just right...

Excellent accommodation at the Pheasant
Excellent accommodation and very friendly staff. The room was clean but small, the TV being little bigger than the kettle. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful and nothing was too much trouble. The pub is about ten minutes walk from the centre and well worth having a drink in. The locals were friendly and the Guinness was top notch. All in all I would stay again without any hesitation and would recommend others to do so too.
Michael, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

The breakfast was good. The room was very small with no window, very claustrophobic. Room was only serviced once in the week I was there. Pub customers openly smoking drugs directly outside of the pub. It would be expensive at half the price

Nice 👍

Just O.K.
Rooms are old and definitely need modernising to bring them up to a good standard. Shower room was dated and shower was slow but hot. Bedding was clean and beds ok. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very good.
