At this time of year there are alot of bugs so you had to keep the windows closed at all times. One of the reasons fpr being there was to hear the stream at night and the fresh cool air.

Relaxing
Staff were helpful and the place was nice. Booking the private onsen incurs an additional charge (which isn’t mentioned at the time of booking - however is on the website). The hotel is somewhat remote, so best to arrange to have dinner and breakfast there as the town is a little far away - ok if you have a car though.

Exceptional cource dineer
The traditional style hotel with exceptional quality dinner and breakfast. The stuff are very friendly and rooms and facilities, including two Onsen public baths, are very clean. The course dinner is well thought out, providing many high quality and healthy food with small quantity. Mainly traditional Japanese foods, with many local ingredients and explanations by a server.

Anytime again!
20 years in Japan now but this one easily among the top 5. Very friendly and competent staff, beautifully clean, lounge with free coffee and espresso service and to top it all of amazingly beautiful old style ryokan with cozy hot springs.

Aizu - Higashiyama May 2018
It's a nice hotel just a little ways up on the mountain. The room was a Japanese style - you sleep on a mattress laid out on tatami mats which was great for my back and actually quite comforatble. The room was spacious with a balcony. Had a beaustiful view of the mountains from the balcony. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, had a small fridge, coffee maker, a large screen TV, separate bath, toliet, and sink. They provided all sorts of lotions and hair care tonics - if you are into that :) They also have a large public onsen (natural hot water pool) up on the 10th floor that has both indoors and outdoors pools. I highly recommend you try that! View from the outdoor pool at night was beautiful - Aizuwakamatsu city lights on one side and mountain view on the other side. By the way, there is a separate onsen for men and women. Hotel is about 3 miles from Aizu downtown area so you will need a taxi or a car or a bicycle to go to any restaurants in downtown area. I did not try the restaurant at the hotel so I can't say anything about the food there. Hotel also has a beautiful and cozy library/reading area - although everything is in Japanese so bring your own reading material. The wifi signal in the room was strong and no dropouts. It is more of a resort type hotel than a business hotel. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as I enjoyed my one night there.

Enjoyable Stay at a Ryokan
We really enjoyed our stay in Aizu and at the Chiyotaki. Both are worth the trip. There are a few sites really worth seeing, like the castle, Samurai house and the hill side memorial to young soldiers who died during their civil war. The ryokan is a welcoming experience. The staff are great and the accommodations are clean and comfortable. The highlight is using the public baths. They are located on the top floor and give you a splendid view of the hills and forest. There are both inside and outside pools both of which can be used regardless of the weather. The only drawback is that the ryokan is about 1-2 km outside the city which means using taxis to get back and forth. The property only provides fixed menus for dinner which we didn’t try. There is one little restaurant just down the hill behind the hotel that is good but it leaves you few options for dinner unless you want to taxi into town
