I'm afraid I didn't enjoy my night at the Bentley Tower Hotel. It started with a very 'curt' greeting which I found unwelcoming. The public areas of this small family run hotel are not unattractive & have a warm and homely feel. The single bedroom that I had however, was Spartan. The furniture, and fittings were cheapest and most basic, as were shower (no bath), WC & sink. As well as being basic, fittings were all very old. WC seat was stained an obscure colour all around the rim - most disconcerting! The room had been badly decorated over the years & looked very tired. Despite the aforementioned comments, I'd have to say that the bed was comfortable and the sheets and pillow were clean and the linen of good enough quality. The room could accurately be described as 'clean'. I did have a comfortable night's sleep, and as I was on a 1 night business trip, this was my principle expectation (although all movements in adjacent rooms were clearly audible). For the price I paid, I didn't expect the Ritz - but I've come to expect a reasonable standard for this level of price (a la Premier Inn/Holiday Inn Express etc). My rate did not include breakfast (on offer for extra charge). I didn't participate in this as I had a desire to leave at the earliest opportunity.
