2/10 Poor

We had high expectations to this hotel because of the earlier rewievs but ended up extremely dissapointed. We booked a superior room and the first night of our stay the bed broke. We were moved to a better room, but without an apology. The new room had a jacuzzi but it didnt work, like many other features in our room. The breakfast could have been great but the breakfast service was shockingly lazy. The placement of the hotel stands out as a positive feature. Major dissapointment..

Faded
The hotel must have been beautiful in its day, but is now well past its best. Beautiful furnishings in the room, but really cheap stained roller blimd at the window. Jacuzzi bath didn’t work, light bulb out in the bathroom, kettle and cups provided but no tea bags or milk. Sloping roof in bedroom made it impossible to move around without banging your head. No television reception. Breakfast good, but you had to navigate your way around cages of linen used for propping open fire doors to get there. Garden is all over grown. Well located, 10 min walk into town. Staff pleasant and helpful. The whole hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment.

Convenient place to stay with car.
Great place to stay if you have a car. Parking in street right by hotel is free at night and on weekends. Liked the bathtub but jets didn’t work. Breakfast was good. Tram stop very close. Easy tram ride to old square or castle.

Average
I stayed there for 3 nights with my mom. The room was ok clean except one spider web in the wall corner I had to clean. We had a problem with our the AC as they didn't give us the controller so we had to ask for it then left to the city and in the afternoon we came back and still no controller so my mom had to go to the reception and finally they gave her the controller ,she almost got sick from the AC but anyway the staff was nice. breakfast average but you will definitely not stay hungry yet I would like to have a finer coffee then the one they offer you it is gross if you are a coffee lover. first impressions of the hotel were really good but then these little things I wasn't too happy about . very positive is it's location just a couple of minutes to the city center

Weekend Stay
The hotel is vey clean it has nice decor and comfortable beds, there are lots of steps though so I got a good exercise up and down however there is an elevator if you don't feel like perking up those buns. The front desk manager was of great help she was very kind and accommodated to our request to change our room since we originally were given twin beds. The nightshift was a bit froggy but helpful, at checkout the two receptionist were a bit rude but the manager had left such a good impression that it didn't discourage our experience. The location is great we drove there on a weekend and parked right in front of the hotel, free parking on the weekend. There's a bus stop right across the street and a great restaurant. We only took one route and within minutes we were in old town. The breakfast was good they also have beer for breakfast. Oh an I almost forgot the tub has pressure massage it was amazing.

4/10 Fair

Shabby and run down.
Shabby and run down, we had room 27, which is next to the lift and doors, so very nosey. The bathroom had a spa shower, but was broken, ceiling was falling in, hole in the plastic shower, leaks from shower and dirty. The only good point is the friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was very limited and had no pastries, just one cake cut into squares.

Nothing Royal about this King
I travel internationally a lot, flexible and I read the reviews, looked at the photo's, thought the location was acceptable. Where to begin: you would not know the hotel location other than flags hanging outside the front door. It appears to be next to a hostel or a stop over for "travlers" that are never ending smokers out front. You need to be buzzed in to access the property. The welcome is NOT welcoming, more of an inconvenience to check me in than happy to have me as a guest. You take an elevator that stops between floors so you have to either carry your bags up or down stairs to reach your room. There us a constant smell of cigarette smoke even though the hotel us non-smoking. Then the room, it is large, has a historic feel but not in a charming way but a tired way. There isn't air con so the temps if arriving in a changing season you must open the windows and make friends with the mosquitoes. It is very close to the tram which is a plus but if a light sleeper not a plus. The breakfast is located in the basement and is acceptable, part of my rate but not worth ever paying for it, go out and into the city if wanting to eat. It is located 25 minute tram ride into the city center. In checking out an error in my bill taxes didn't charge so they kept emailing for more money, wanted my credit card over email. Was very uncomfortable. I would not stay again nor recommend

Great Hotel
Lovely hotel, but far from the centre but not a problem as the tram stop is literally a minutes walk away. I personally enjoyed coming back to a more residential and quitter area away from all the stag and hen parties. Facilities are great and the welcome shot of alcohol is a bonus, even if it is an acquired taste! Buffet breakfast could have been a bit better, in the sense it would have been handy if all the meats were labelled, but that is really minor! I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for its reasonable price, friendly staff and quality!
