The New Orleans Museum of Art is a historic fine-arts museum that showcases a variety of works from eras like the Renaissance and the modern era. You can explore this massive collection to see art from all over the world. You can also see a collection of historical American furniture, with some French pieces as well.
Anyone can enjoy this museum, but art fans will get the most out of this experience. Most visitors spend about 2 or 3 hours here, but you can spend as long as you like during open hours.

New Orleans Museum of Art highlights
The most important aspect of the New Orleans Museum of Art is the collection. In its permanent collection, you'll find over 40,000 works, with the oldest dating back thousands of years. Most of its collection features European and American works from masters like Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe, Mary Cassatt, Jackson Pollock, Picasso, and Renoir.
In addition to the legends known around the world, this museum also hosts a collection of artists from Louisiana. Amongst those works, you'll find quite an expansive selection of art photography. Native American art is also prominent throughout.

Good to know when visiting the New Orleans Museum of Art
Before you visit the New Orleans Museum of Art, there are some factors to keep in mind. Parking is available by the museum on Lelong Drive for free, but you can also take public transport. The Canal-City Park tram line has a stop nearby at Wisner and Esplanade.
When you're at the museum, you'll have to abide by several policies. You're welcome to bring in your own sketchbook, but you can only use dry media. Photographing of objects in the permanent collection is allowed, although tripods and flash photography are not permitted.
