Via San Giovanni is easily accessed through the subway system, with a stop close to the neighbourhood's main attraction, the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran, which is the oldest of the 4 major papal churches in the western world. Several bus lines run through here as well.

On May 1st, or Labor Day in Italy, the area in front of the basilica hosts the May 1st concert, which showcases a variety of Italian and foreign artists. Nearby, you can also stroll past the monuments and catacombs of Via Appia Antica or relax with a picnic in the park at Villa Celimontana.
