Very pleasant stay at the El Encanto
Enjoyed stay at the El Encanto. Staff is excellent Ray and Jose (the receptionists) were very helpful to all our needs. Only negative is that the surrounding area isn't in the best condition/safety level.

The location is great. It is close to the Malecon and the city center. Easy access to public transportation. The breakfast is excellent and the staff is extremely friendly. The only downsides were the low water pressure for the toilets and the bad internet connection. Otherwise, the place is excellent.

The property is clean, safe and the staff are very accommodating. This is a family run place and they work hard to make it enjoyable for everyone. It is not far from the Marcone. It is noisy in the area. We were there new years weekend so it was late night sounds. Just important if you are a light sleeper. If you want to see the real Havana, this is a good spot. The area feels rough at first, but we always felt safe. It is a 10 minute walk to Old Havana where most tourist items were located.

We had made a reservation for 2 rooms through Expedia. On arrival, we were informed that the rooms were not available. We immediately made a reservation in a different hotel through our own means. We later were informed that as the reservation had been made through Expedia and it was already the day of arrival, no reimbursement could be made. Horrible!

No había wifi gratis como decía la página. Me trataron de solucionar el problema de internet atraves de conexión con otro teléfono a la llegada pero solo me ofrecieron 1Gb gratis. Tampoco me ofrecieron llave propia para entrar. Y encontré que no había mucha privacidad. Pero además de eso se veía muy limpio y bonito. Lamentablemente personalmente me decepcionó bastante.

Belle bâtisse coloniale propre. Dommage que la chambre triple soit un peu bricolée, on se cogne partout. Difficile de se doucher sans inonder. La chambre double de mes filles était mieux. Die Bilder dieser Unterkunft zeigen großzügige Suiten - 2 von denen habe ich gebucht, für über 150€ pro Suite pro Nacht! Beim Einchecken bekam ich zwei Minizimmer. Die sind so auf keinem Bild zu sehen. Im Bad musste man gebückt rückwärts "einparken". Der Gang um das Bett war mit Schuhgröße 46 kaum passierbar. Einen Koffer bekam man nicht auf den Boden gelegt! Das waren die kleinsten Zimmer auf unsere Kubareise!. Nach dem ich interveniert habe, bekamen wir die zwei abgebildeten großen Suiten mit Blick zur Strasse. Die beiden Suiten waren Top! Das Frühstücksbuffet war eher simpel. Der Rezeptionsservice (7x24 h) ist einfacher Hotel Standard - kein Familienanschluss.

Encantados con El Encanto! Beautiful property in a great location to use as a base for walking around Havana. What makes it truly special is the staff and their care of their guests. Front desk, housekeeping, breakfast service are all done by wonderful people who show a true pride in what they do, their guest house and making their guest feel comfortable and at home. We can't wait to go back and visit them again! Everything is kept in great working condition, spotlessly clean and the breakfast is the highlight of the day!

Great location and rooms :)
Great location - only 10 minutes on foot from old havana and 2 minutes from the Malecon - easy to navigate to both areas from here. Room was very good in traditional old building - room was spacious and beds were comfy - air conditioning and fans in the room which is essential in Havana! Roof terrace if you climb up has plenty of seating and has nice covered area. Everything was Immaculately clean and shower and bathroom facilities all worked well. If I had a negative it would only be to say that although the breakfast is included and food and choice is fine for Cuba (bread/ham/cheese/fruit/eggs and local fresh fruit juice) I'm sure that travellers would appreciate the food being stored in a glass fronted fridge - all food is covered but undoing all the cellophane is a nuisance. A bit of music and having a fan on in this area would also be bonus :) overall it's a great location and rooms are clean, large and quiet - essential to escape from the hustle and bustle of Havana. Very good value for money. Wifi free at breakfast and evening (unusual in cuba!) Bar in hotel was never open - but you can buy cans of Kola, beer and bottles of water from them. Would stay here again.
