    Needs some serious reno
This resort was probably all the rage back in it's heyday, but that day is long gone. It gave me the feeling like I'd stepped into Dirty Dancing with rooms housed in several smaller lodges rather than all in one big hotel. I literally was waiting for them to announce dance lessons in the ballroom. It's probably also not been touched very much maintenance-wise since 1963. Most of the buildings were quite run down. From the curled roof shingles and rotted exposed rafters, down to the broken and sometimes missing slate tiles...it was very bad need of major renovation. The slate tiles were a serious trip hazard. We stayed in room 65, which shares an entrance with room 66. This entry smelled like camp. Moldy, musty...yuck. I was beginning to regret the $110 per night price tag for something that smelled like my grandma's old camp. Fortunately the room wasn't nearly as smelly. It did have a hint of the musty smell, but tolerable. Updates within the room are few. The beds are old, pillows new. There are new bathroom fixtures as well, but it's kind of like putting earrings on dog. And the corner shower stall was very small. In fact, it was smaller than the one in our camper. Ladies, good luck shaving your legs in it. There is no refrigerator or microwave in the room. Which is a shame because they have good food at the Duck Blind Grill (their restaurant) and being able to take and re-heat leftovers would have been nice. The pool is an outdoor pool and was closed.

    Exceptionally clean!
We were very happy about the cleanliness of the room. Trust me I checked on side of bed, behind the nightstand etc. We were day camping with our family so we were only there at night, but the greens looked great for golfing, with a restaurant on site! I definitely would stay there again! The only thing I might change is putting a mini fridge in rooms.

    Clean room, lovely setting.
Very comfortable beds, clean room. One problem: The shower water temp never got warmer than lukewarm.

Did not like that a public balcony was right outside the bedroom window. I had to get dressed for the wedding in the bathroom

    Gaylord getaway
We had two rooms booked but they were in different buildings, although close to each other. The staff cheerfully changed one of the rooms to put us in the same building. The buildings are older but the door hardware and bathrooms have been upgraded and everything was very clean. We would stay here again.
