Cusco Historic Center

Cusco Historic Center feels like a living time capsule where ancient Incan walls meet Spanish colonial balconies on winding cobblestone streets. The imposing Cathedral and Qorikancha temple foundations tell stories spanning centuries, while artisan workshops in San Blas invite you to watch masters at work. Colorful textiles and exotic fruits create a feast for the senses at buzzing San Pedro Market. Traditional restaurants serve everything from simple quinoa soup to fancy alpaca steaks between exploring the neighborhood's museums and churches. Hotels range from cozy hostels to luxurious suites in converted colonial buildings featuring original Incan stonework. Walking is the best way to explore these narrow streets, though the high altitude might leave you catching your breath.

Our hostel was located only a few blocks away from Cusco's Plaza de Armas but it was all up hill. It was worth it though for the incredible views the hostel offered of the city! On this morning we were up early for a day tour and enjoyed our breakfast on the small outdoor patio overlooking the city. #UrbanJungle

The Inca Trail was the first (and only) booked tour I have done. With limited time to spend in Peru, the choice to join a tour group was best... loved the walk to bits, especially this part!
