Beautiful peaceful break away
It was a lovely break away with kids and our dog. The staff were amazing especially the young girl at the lounge where we went in the evenings she went above and beyond for us. Spa was great and the staff were so welcoming. We will definitely come here again

East Anglia trip.
Second stay at the hotel, and a pleasant couple of night. Great to see a hotel with EV charging points making the trip around East Anglia and back to Cheshire an easier exercise. Hotel is clean and spacious and rooms good, except no glasses in room for water. Spa and pool great and breakfast was well covered for all peoples requirements.

Room 268
Our room was clean and tidy on arrival, few paint chips noticed around the room, especially in bathroom and on bathroom door, these are easily fixed and should be done prior to any guests arrival. More pillows should be available if needed, as my partner felt two were not sufficient to accommodate her sleep. TV in room had infrequent digital reception and the remote control does not allow full access to all of the TV, the TV itself is also very dated and does not have internet access capability, which should be considered, to help enhance guests’ stay in the future. Staff were very helpful and accommodating during stay and reception, health club area and especially in the bar area, who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, so they should be praised for this. High praise also to the restaurant breakfast selection. Yet to have found a hotel that matches, or even surpasses this, in terms of quantity or quality, so this is also to be applauded.

Family awoken by drunken residents.
The hotel is stunning, the Poole was great, beds comfy…. Downside family room are situated along a corridor used by Christmas party goers, with a Christmas party being held in the Bunkers Bar nearby. We got back to the hotel around 11.20 after a fabulous evening at Thursford Christmas Spectacular we were all asleep & my children husband and I were awoken at a quarter past midnight by drunken party goers in a room near by, you could hear every word, it went on for around 30 minutes with a woman cackling like a witch. I phoned reception to complain, a very young man said he would send security to check. I complained to reception in the morning and the receptionist said that if we don’t want to be woken we should stay Monday-Thursday…. Not quite what I was expecting from a beautiful 4 star hotel.

Average
Although stay was pleasant. The breakfast was average at best. And 3 cleaning staff talking loudly outside my room about bf insta and other inane comments. When the DO NOT DISTURB was clearly displayed. Come on go chat somewhere else. Very annoying. Bar drinks are well overpriced

Great stay, great people and awesome setting
Just a short stay, absolutely love the Old English Heritage in the statement of a building, this was well accompanied by the friendly staff and made the stay good. I will give a great thanks to Nova who served us in the Garden terrace bar. We had a good laugh.

Great location and relatively average rooms
The standard of cleaning was average in my opinion, particular attention needs to be made in areas that get a lot of damp e.g. shower seals, toilet seats, etc. Bed was quite firm, personally I prefer them a little softer. I'm not sure exactly why but we both woke up each morning with incredibly dry throats, I'd usually assume it was air-con but the room had radiators. The bathroom was more modern than the rest of the room, water pressure was good, noticeable rust/oxidations on fittings e.g. toilet seat though. The main room is a little dated looking, carpet has that old pattern that hides stains and the furniture while fitting with the building has clearly seen a lot of use. I also asked the hotel via the hotels.com app if they happened to have any conditioner as my wife forgot hers, and also about the pool and if we could use it, I did not however receive a response for the entire stay, I don't consider this good customer service at all. Nice chap when we arrived Tuesday afternoon, very helpful and gave good directions to our room. Overall I would not give this hotel 4*, maybe 3*+ at a push, but I just didn't think the quality of room reflected 4* value.
