The manor it’s self was beautiful from the outside. The overall condition of the hallways and reception rooms where good however the condition of our room was very out dated and finished to a poor standard. The chairs in the room had large rips in the centre where you sit and the there where paint patches in the bathroom where they had sampled different shades without finishing. Our room backed onto a stairway, this woke us up throughout the night as the floorboards where old and very noise.

4/10 Fair

Good value room. awful restaurant. Not a spa
My main frustration was that I booked this for my partner as a spa break. Customer service at the spa was great however, it is more of a leisure centre than relaxing spa. Great if you’ve got kids as there were plenty playing in the pool the whole time, followed by a pool aerobics class. Not ideal when you were hoping for a relaxing time. On the plus side, my partner had a massage by Steph at the spa and she said it was absolutely fantastic. Hotel was okay, rooms were very clean with excellent bathrooms. The place does need modernising to compete with other spa hotels. But overall the room was great value for money. Just a shame the spa wasn’t as I was sold. The restaurant - Jacob’s Brasserie was by far the worst part of our stay. Awful service, no napkins on the tables. I had to send my starter of parfait back as it smelt and tasted like an ashtray. There was no apology and no offer of another starter. We both ordered the steak with sauce, costing £30 each. The steak was the quality you would expect from a chain like Wetherspoons but that would be doing Wetherspoons a disservice. Clearly all frozen food. The chips weren’t cooked and no one came to ask how the meal was. We waited at our table for 20mins but in the end we had to leave our plates on the table and tell the staff we we leaving the restaurant. Avoid Jacobs brassiere at all costs - the restaurant needs an overhaul.

Real review
Our stay was fantastic, only flaws was that the cleaners didn't give us water as stated and no fridge was provided in the room which was not ideal as was very warm. Also the cleanliness of the room was hit and miss. The pool in the spa is far too small and makes it very difficult to have a good swim but don't let this put you off as the water is an easy fix, as is the fridge problem and the spa treatments are brilliant and cheap.
