Amazing Art Deco style hotel in the heart of The Historic Center of Lima. Great Old World charm. Loved every minute of my stay. Wish I had more time to stay.

A time capsule from the 1920s
Absolutely amazing hotel with so much history. If you prefer the beauty of bygone eras over modernity this is the hotel for you. Splurge and get the junior suite. It's basically an entire apartment with gorgeous inlaid hardwood floors, 15 ft ceilings a balcony and many period features.

Improvement
My stay was fine. The hotel needs to make some improvements such as adding a telephone so that you can contact receptionist. No air conditioning in the room

What a grand hotel
What a grand hotel. We arrived really late due to flight delays and personnel were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, ask for the coffee, no cream... delicious. The foyer is gorgeous.

I liked the retro nature of the facility - high ceilings and spacious rooms, not your ordinary tourist type of hotel - the hallways were long and empty which gave off a haunted house vibe - the food and bar drinks were exceptional - there was plenty to see within walking distance - an experience worth remembering

The Gran Hotel Bolivar is one of a kind. Approaching its 100th year, the hotel represents a time when the wealthy elite would come to Lima and expect to be greeted by liveried doormen, excellent cocktails and linen tablecloths. It still does not disappoint. While the decor may look a little faded in places, it is clearly a top notch hotel with a beautiful interior and well- trained, helpful staff. I can recommend it highly and, should I be fortunate to return to Lima, I will always choose the Gran Hotel Bolivar as my base.

We loved the architecture, the rooms are spacious and clean. The air conditioning doesn’t really work but we had a fan in our room which was fine. The staff were always helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again

Short of Potential
Hotel was old but beautiful on the ground floor. Staff were very nice and the location for the historical area was quite good. Sadly the room was damp with no hot water and toilet did not flush. We relocated after one night

Plaza San Martin continues to be as beautiful as originally built. Local authorities need to improve cleanliness, order and more than anything NOISE LEVELS. Otherwise, the hotel and location offer great value and historical attractions. The hotel itself is a 100 yr old beautiful museum. Once all its MEP features are updated it will continue to serve as one of the best hotels in Lima.

Beautiful historical building but mildew
This building is gorgeous and a Lima historic landmark. The staff were very friendly, including voluntarily calling Expedia to see about a refund because I did need to leave early. I have learned that all buildings (museums, hotels, etc.) in Lima have mildew and I am particularly sensitive. As a historical building (which is true for the US as well) the level was too high for me. I want to say again the staff were very understanding.

This is a historical hotel that has a lobby thronging with tour guides and their pursuants. Sadly, they see no further than the impressive hallway and don't experience the frugal nature of the bedrooms. There, they would find sparse furnishings and limited bathroom provisions. Taps often failed to work, the toilet didn't refill after flushing and the shower was little more than a dribble. The floor in the bedroom was dangerously slippery. Breakfasts offered no choice and were simply adequate but uninspiring. Staff were friendly and helpful, but it was quite strange to be in a restaurant where I felt as if I was the only guest in the entire hotel.

The hotel is an architectural jewelry, however, it's decaying. Ceilings are peeling off, furniture is very old. Spending a night there was a unique experience but it needs a lot of maintenance. It feels like a movie. It is definitely noisy outside, you need ear plugs in order to fall asleep.
However, the staff is super friendly, kind and helpful. All of them.

I stayed for 3 night for family emergency and the last day was not satisfactory. While I was waiting at the lobby hotel I need to charges my phone, but I could find anywhere. Luckily I saw one outlet near the receptionist. I was standing while I charges my phone because nothing I can be seat. One of employee hotel came to me and he said I can’t charges my phone in there. I looked at him and I did not say anything because I did not want to argue with him. I asked the other one of employee hotel who was he. He was a supervisor security. I could not believe ; If I can’t charges my phone in there, he should offer me the different location. I hope the management hotel would do serve the better service.
