Our booking at the Hotel Canal was relatively last-minute. Upon realizing that one of our party was partially handicapped, the hotel moved us to the ground-floor family suite at no extra charge. While the hotel is located facing a noisy main road, the very effective double glazing does a good job of keeping most of the traffic noise out. If possible, though, get a room facing the canal, which provides a most pleasant view. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and the quality and variety of the breakfast buffet was excellent. If you arrive by rail, the hotel is within a hundred meters of so of the train station, while the walled city center is only about 300 meters away on foot. Parking -- not always a given at urban hotels in France -- is free and available onsite. I would certainly stay at the Hotel Canal again, and would recommend it to anyone else visiting Aigues Mortes.
