Worst hotel stay ever. The rooms (had to change rooms for bathroom fixture and noise problems) were dirty and not maintained well.. We tried to make do during a labor strike by hotel employees. After three days without cleaning services, towel change, etc., we got our own cleaning supplies and basically policed up dirt and grime, months' worth. Some guests were transferred to other hotels. We we're not made aware of this possibility. Talking to strikers it came out that they we're not given adequate time to clean rooms and were under intense pressure to meet the "quota". Voila the room cleanliness issue...corporate budget concerns over quality? Breakfast room was closed for three days. To be fair, the one breakfast we had was very good. Upon departure we were told that our stay would be fully reimbursed...2000 plus euros for this Five Star hotel stay... but as we paid through EXPEDIA this would take time. Almost three months later, nothing. After 5 emails to the hotel not one answer. After three phone calls, after being told once that it was being worked, continued silence. On the last call I was not allowed to speak with the manager "company policy." Are you kidding me? Too bad. Bilbao is exceptional, hotel location excellent. Management and upkeep are a very real problems. Stay here at your own risk.
