After a long trip from overseas to HK and arriving around midnight the Explorers lodge was such a welcome place to arrive! It's just so charming and beautiful in the lobby and the room decor is very nice. The next morning woke up to gorgeous views of the nearby islands, and a short walk along the promenade by the seawall turned into a several hour journey around the Inspiration Lake and all around the outskirts of the Disneyland Park.
My only disappointment was that the for the convenience of dining at the hotel, the cost can be high; the tendency is to eat more food than normal due to that. As someone with a simple diet and wanting to maintain a healthy weight the buffet breakfast and multi-course dinners are overkill, probably only want to do that for one day. The Chart Room Cafe had a nice Cantonese breakfast and smaller dinner options that suited us well, but was only open for weekend days during the less busy season.
Still, I highly recommend staying here for the charm and convenience to the Disney park. From the airport, a taxi is the recommended way to get to the park.
The shuttle bus to the park stops right next to the Disney MTR line, which makes travel around the rest of HK convenient (except to the airport, ironically!) Also, it is a must do activity to go to Tung Chung and ride the cable car to see Po Lin Monastery and Tian Tan.
