Backpackers place in wooded beach town
I stayed at Ploy Inn in Koh Chang for 2 nights. The location is good, can walk 5 minutes to the beach and right by the shops, restaurants, and nighttime bars in the small little area of Lonely Beach. The lady at the front does not speak English, she had to call another lady who does. They almost did not find my reservation and acted like they never heard of Expedia or Hotels.com. Since I am the first to review this hotel from Hotels.com, I may have been their first customer from here as well! They did not ask for my name, passport, nor a deposit; they eventually just gave me a room key. I was given a TV with no remote, luckily they switched out my TV for one with a remote, but only 4 local channels and none in English, all very fuzzy picture. Housekeeping will NOT make up your room unless you ask, and you have to leave your key at the front desk. The room was ok, nothing special, a few ants on the floor, flies and mosquitos, and a window that does not fully close. The AC works but the room will not get real cold because of the slight openings in the window. No bottled water, safe, phone, nor fridge in room. But what can you expect? This is a backpacker beach town in the woods. You are given 2 towels, small bars of soap, little shampoo bottles, and a roll of toilet paper. Nicer resorts are down the road if you want a real fancy hotel. Just letting everyone know what to expect. Not too bad of a place to crash.
