Don't be fooled - this is a great little place.
There are nicer hotels but could not have a better location. Although it is not a 5 Star place the Service is all 5-Star!! Great staff that makes you feel valued and welcomed. I have stayed at the Sir Christopher Wren, The Castle and the MacDonald hotels but none compared on service. Great local English Pub feel.

Nice, clean, convenient & friendly
This is a very nice and convenient location in Windsor, right across the pedestrian bridge from downtown and close to the Windsor and Eton Riverside Rail station. This is great news when you are dragging a suitcase. There is very little motor traffic on the north side of the river. We did not have time to eat at the downstairs pub, but the welcome was great, and the rooms, while not large, were clean and well-lit. The large windows open and you can look out onto the bridge or the patio behind the pub. Note that this is an old building with stairs and low doorways. People were shorter back in the day, and I bumped my head entering the room. My only complaint was that there was some plumbing work going on in our room so the wall behind the toilet had some temporary sheetrock. Everything functioned perfectly, and the bed was great. Lots of TV channels if that's your thing. Coffee maker and biscuits in the room, nice shower, quiet. The hotel staff showed us how to enter and exit the building after hours through the patio and also referred us to a great restaurant (and they did not try to guilt us into eating in their pub). The bus stop to Heathrow Airport was about 1500 feet away (6 minutes' walk), right in front of the entrance to Windsor Castle. I would definitely visit again, hopefully to have some of the pies sold downstairs in the pub.

Don’t trust the reviews
I am not sure why or how this property has such a good rating, we booked and stayed here based on the reviews and were very disappointed. We had a 2 night stay and left after the first night. The room was tidy, but very small. Bathroom was not great, the back of the toilet (behind the seat) appeared not to have been cleaned.... a little off putting. The bed was very hard, not comfortable at all. The window was stuck open, which may not have been a bad thing. In the morning we noticed an odour of old cigarette smoke in the room which we did not notice a check in as they had just finished cleaning the room. The carpet was heavily stained and felt dirty. Overall not the greatest experience of our vacation!

Excellent location, good breakfast, cleanliness average. Check inn area behind the bar and out of sight so they could do with h a bell to let them know your there.

Room above the bar
The location is great. We enjoyed our stay there. We were in the room that is directly above the bar. The view out our window was very good. It was Sunday night so there was not much noise from the bar below us. I would not recommend staying in this room on a Friday or Saturday night.

Great Hotel (found on GPS as The George Inn)
This was a great hotel. The people were nice the room was comfortable and the location was outstanding for my purposes. My room was on the 3rd floor and there is no lift but a nice gentleman carried my bag up to the room. Despite being above a bar (it was a Monday night when I stayed) it was quite. A room fan was provided which kept me cool as was complementary tea and biscuits (cookies). Overall, I would stay at this hotel again without reservation.

Wondeful gem of an Inn
The best part of not only the stay at The George but also Windsor was by far the staff at The George. Wonderful, welcoming and warm! Highly recommended.

A few niggles but great location and staff
Bed was quite firm. Bathroom door got stick on frame so hard to open and close. Hot water tap would not close properly so dripping. It was a lovely pub and location was brilliant and really good staff.
