For those who have visited Sanliurfa in years past, the Edessa was a fine, traditional hotel with a view of the historic mosque. Unbeknownst to be when I booked, that hotel has changed its name and the "new Edessa" barely qualifies for the name "hotel". It is more like a rooming house with no features whatsoever. Rooms have a decent bed and a decent toilet. That is really it. There is a shower with no curtain and only occasional hot water. The breakfast provided is the worst I have ever had in any Turkish hotel. Towels were not routinely provided. When I first arrived, I was told that there were no rooms, even though it was only about 6:30 pm and the room had been guaranteed by Expedia. Upon realizing this, the management hastily put together a room with the promise of a better room the next day. They did put us into another room the next day. The room was identical, except for artificial flowers placed at the bedside. The management did try. Unfortunately, they had little to work with.
