Great service, highly recommend
We were greeted by Alex on our arrival and shown to our accommodation which was clean and provided everything we needed. We were the only guests staying that evening so the evening meal menu was limited to a few choices. However, when what was on offer didn't suit all of our party, Alex went out to buy in food to meet our dietary needs in order that we didn't have to drive back out to the local village to eat. Our evening meal was delicious, finishing with a great breakfast sitting outside in the sun. Alex even provided us with Yorkshire teabags from his fast depleting stock. Had we known, we would have taken a box of said teabags with us. For a very friendly, accommodating service and comfortable stay in a beautiful, peaceful setting, I would highly recommend this property. We couldn't have asked for more.

Terrific service and quiet location
We had a really lovely stay at Balestie. I decided late in the afternoon that we would need dinner and was concerned we might not find anywhere to eat locally. So I emailed the owner to ask if it was possible to sit for dinner, not even really expecting an answer. To my surprise, he replied with a very positive "I will reserve you a table". When we arrived some hours later we were shown our room and then offered the terrasse out the back of the house for drinks and dinner. The food and wine were really good and nothing seemed to be too much trouble, even though the owner was clearly quite busy. We had a nice room with a lovely view to the mountains. We will certainly go back if and when we are in the area. Thanks to Alex and Rachel for being great hosts. Jon &Yve

Great place for a pleasant bargain stay
Very nice place. Basic, but very clean and a comfy bed. The owner was extremely nice. The grounds were beautiful, but it was off the beaten path. I would happily stay there again.

Lovely friendly couple who made us very welcome and cooked meal to suit one on our party. No air-conditioning, but not a problem unless it was 30 degrees plus. Well worth a visit

Lovely location, attentive service
Arrived after a long day of driving, and we much appreciated the hot tea offered us by the proprietor. We stayed for dinner, which we very much enjoyed, and took advantage of the wonderful breakfast, as well. Our room was very spacious and convenient for my mother who has trouble with stairs, as it was on the first floor.

Stunning location
My fiance and I stayed here for one night as we travelled westward through the south of France. The room was comfortable with an incredible view of the Pyrenees, we really enjoyed dinner and the owners were very welcoming. Great base for Carcassonne, Mirepoix etc. Would definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.

Nature
Located deep in the countryside and is therefore primarily for those who themselves seek out this specific hotel (is not a place where many come by and is barely visible from the public roads). But it is definitely a local gem in an area with lot of tranquility and a fantastic nature - a place where nature lovers want to stay a day longer.

Good choice for stopover
We chose the Auberge for its location on route to Spain. excellent choice , not so far from Mirepoix. We ate in and found the food to be excellent. Despite being full the place was not noisy, we both slept well. wifi worked. We can recommend this place, excellent value for money.

Bizarre
