I was in communication with the property for several hours discussing timing of our flight, getting a taxi, etc. After our flight was delayed and we hit some traffic, we arrive at 9:15pm. Because check-in ends at 9pm, they asked for 15 euros to let us in. I asked if we could meet in the middle and they said no, and that they would just mark us as a no-show. I was in a taxi for 40mins going from the airport to the hotel, so they knew that we were in a tough spot. When I got there at 9:15pm, and I told them we're outside, they said "good night". It was super passive aggressive and scary. We unloaded from the taxi in front of this property, we watched the employee walk away and deny us entry. I had to book another hotel last minute and take my mom through another cab ride to a new hotel. Since the reservations are non-refundable, the property is now denying a refund, and Expedia cannot help. I cannot begin to explain how it felt (do not do business with these people). During the day the manager was friendly, got our flight info, etc. Once it was time to squeeze us for cash, they just became passive aggressive and then denied us, and even went on to tell me what they would just mark me as a no-show, so they would still get the full payment. I didn't get the service, felt unsafe in a new town at night without a hotel for the next 3 nights, and they refuse to a issue a refund. The people doing business here are not trustworthy. I am also shocked Expedia can't do anything else.
