Nice place to stay
This hotel was a nice place to stay. It was brightly decorated for the holidays and many landmarks were within walking distance. There were also a lot of great places to eat and shop nearby. I wish our room had a window, it would have made spending time in the room a bit more pleasant. The only thing that was a little upsetting was that we arrived early. The desk told us we could check in but there would be an additional charge. We told the desk that we would wait until the check in time to check in. When we came back they said they didn't have our rooms ready. That they had one room we selected available but if we wanted to we could get another room but it would be an additional charge. I asked him why we didn't have rooms if they were booked in advance. He said that he may have rooms but they were not ready and he didn't know how much time before they were ready. Once again I asked why they were not ready if they knew we reserved ahead of time and we had arrived hours prior. He said that he would check and try to get our rooms ready as soon as possible. We didn't get our rooms until over half an hour later and nothing was done to make up for the inconvenience. Aside from that everything else was pleasant.

2/10 Poor

Property is very close to Zocalo square and shops. Hotel rooms has no a/c and very2 outdated. Staff are not polite. Room keys always not working. Rooms are not sound proof. Aside from being loud outside there are also noises from above floors. I wouldnt even think of recommending this to my friends.

It is a convenient location. Half a block from the Zocalo. It is inconvenient to arrive since it is Madero Ave. No cars allowed on Madero street. It is noisy during the day.

The room rate is very inexpensive, so you do get what you pay for. Would not recommend the restaurant - only mediocre. Plenty of other excellent dining options nearby.

Mixed review
The property itself was built in 1937. It is in a great location. They have retained it's historical charm, especially in the lobby and mezzanine level. The rooms are a good size, but could use a little updating. There was a small hole in the carpet in our room and the laminate floor was loose in my dad's room. Even though there was a fan in the rooms, it needed a/c. The restaurant for breakfast was good. The dinner was horrible. They brought my food cold and it ended up being inedible. The meat was cheap quality. The wait staff needs to be better trained.

We had a great experience overall within our state. Our hotel is pretty quiet during the night and the staff and service were very friendly and very helpful. My recommendation would be that the hotel provide a microwave and a refrigerator for the room. The location is very centrally located therefore we were able to go to dinner nearby and shopping as well.

4/10 Fair

The hotel is very outdated and in much need of repairs . The beds are super hard. If your trying to get a good night sleep the location is not for you. Very noisy. There is NO Air-conditioner rooms get super stuffy and hot if you open the windows there is a breeze but then you get all the mosquitoes. I had a very hard time getting any sleep I tried to get check out but they said I was already charged for the 8 days and wouldn’t get my money back. Which I thought that was not right. The very rude lady said you can leave but I already charge you for your whole say. They really need to invest money in renovations. Its not only old

Beautiful hotel in Historic Center Mexico City
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Historic Mexico City! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Only drawback was the lack of AC, which they fixed with a fan, and no water the first day! View from their rooftop terrace is gorgeous!
