Porec is a resort town with plenty of historic sights on Croatia’s Istrian Peninsula. Most travellers come here to visit the UNESCO-listed Euphrasian Basilica, which dates back to the 4th and 6th centuries. There’s also a significant Italian influence in Porec, with Venetian-style houses dominating the Old Town, as well as trattorias and cafes lining its streets.

Porec often attracts travellers seeking winter sun – you’ll find around 10 km of pebbly, sandy and rocky beaches fronting the Adriatic Sea. You can enjoy thrilling water sports or get a tan at popular resorts such as Zelena Laguna, Pical, and Brulo. For a day away from the beach, hike the scenic Parenzana trail, which stretches some 60 km between Trieste and Porec.
