Interesting Hotel Concept, Terribly Mismanaged
First the pro - the idea of this resort, individual villas, is good.
Now the cons:
- The staff had no idea that I was arriving. After 20 minutes of inaction and repeated study of my booking receipt (on my iPhone), they said they would take 15 minutes to make up my room (confirmed by Max on the phone as the more expensive Deluxe Villa). 30 minutes later, they tried to put me in a Superior Villa. Reluctantly, after my insistence that I had booked the Deluxe Villa, they said they needed 15 minutes to make up another room for me. 30 minutes later they showed me into my room. The whole process, which included several phone conversations with Max (he was either the Manager or the best English speaker), took 90 minutes. This is appalling for a premium priced hotel room (USD $130) in Thailand. (NOTE: The fact that I received check in evaluation and post-stay e-mails proves that they did receive my booking from Hotels.com)
- Several items described in the room/resort description are false:
(a) cable TV (all channels are local Thai);
(b) blackout drapes/curtains;
(c) restaurant (I could see where a restaurant might be, however it did not operate during my stay).
- The Deluxe Villa construction is very charming and rustic, however the room is not very air tight, in both the walls and roof. This caused the air conditioning to struggle to keep the room cool, allowed lots of bugs in during the night (I am talking hundreds of airborne predators) and the roof leaked when it rained.
