Ocean side resort
The resort is excellent and lo ates right on the ocean. Had a few issues getting in to our room since its off season, staff is not onsite, and we were to let ourselves into our room. Some other people staying in the same building as us also left the common areas messed up. A quick phone call resolved all our issues and the resort upgraded us to a larger room because of the mess. In the end glad we chose the place and would recommend it to others.

Hot tubs in photo’s are not part of the hotel but public and a km away. Shower floods the bathroom instantly and water smells bad causing the whole room to smell. Room was full of flys. Thermostat doesn’t work. There is a window that sees into the entrance to the building and shines a light into the room when people walk through. Blinds don’t fully cover the windows. Ceilings and walls are paper thin. Beds are uncomfortably hard. Door to outer porch is so challenging to close it’s not worth using. No fridge means some of our food will go bad. Plus the journey to this side of the island is very long with unpaved roads with nothing to do. Signature double room was not worth it, wish we just drove for a few more hours to stay in the capital.

This was my best room so far in Iceland of 5 nights traveling around to a different location each day. Delicious halibut dinner. Top quality. Staff were eager to help & friendly. Gave me excellent tips for viewing Aurora Borealis. Saw them from midnight to 1 am. While having breakfast, watched humpback whales spouting & breaching in the distance. New & super clean public hot poos beside accommodations. I had the pool & hot tubs to myself I would highly recommend this place!!!

The Malarhorn Guesthouse was a lovely spot to spend the night. Very nice room (and big!), very friendly and helpful staff, good food in the restaurant in a tiny little town. We could have happily stayed a few more days.

The property was cute. It is a shared guesthouse but the rooms were very cute and 2 nice clean restrooms. The food at the restaurant was great!! The hot tubs along the water were a very nice treat. The hot one was perfect.

Clean units, feels very new. Room was comfortable. They have a restaurant on site and they’ll do your laundry for a nominal fee. Staff is very hospitable. Travelocity mis-communicated the amenities. Some rooms have a shared kitchen, others don’t. Recommend calling ahead to ask staff, which room you have if you’re hoping to use a kitchen.

Nice little seaside town. The sounds of the ocean and seagulls were relaxing. Our unit was wonderfully staged with an inviting dining and living room. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking as well. Only issue was that the inside handle to the bathroom was broken and we needed help to get out. Also there was only one shower for 4 shared rooms, which could be a problem if all rooms were occupied. Host was very sweet and the price was right for Icelandic standards.

I would stay elsewhere.
The Malarhorn Guesthouse was an OK place to stay. The breakfast was great. The room was clean and comfortable.
The location in Drangsnes was not my favorite in the Westfjords. The view when walking was beautiful when looking towards the water.
I would not make the additional drive out to Drangsnes nor would I stay at the Guesthouse.
That being said- the people were lovely and kind.

Unexpected find
This place was terrific. We booked late and there wasn't much available at all, so we were a little early. But the place was perfect. A lot of room, v good food, and the hot pools right on the ocean just a block away were great. And do book the boat to Bramley Island. Thousands of puffins a very short ride away.
