Absolutely beautiful place to stay, the room was fabulous and toasty warm. The whole place is spotlessly clean and the staff are incredibly helpful. When I stay again I will make sure I have a hire car to explore the local area a bit more. Great food options nearby and a really good continental breakfast is available in the on site restaurant. Really enjoyable and so much nicer than a cloned modern hotel/motel.

This place is a gem and will definitely stay here again the next time I return to Hobart! Lovely grounds and views from room, friendly helpful staff and free breakfast with the option I chose. Close enough to the city centre that it allows you a good walk in which was lovely to take in the vibe of the place. You'll need a car from Newtown though to get around to see everything that the city has to offer but there is plenty of parking available at the hotel to facilitate that.

Sadly we only had a quick overnight stay here but we wish we had longer. This place was amazing. Super clean and close to lots of restaurants. You can see this place has a lot of history and we had fun making up stories about the building. Breakfast was great and the heated floors in the bathroom really were the cherry on top. We will definitely be back to stay!

Beautiful place to stay. Really enjoyed our second stay here. Rooms are lovely with some modern touches to a historical property, and are a good size from our experience. Breakfast is included which is a bonus. It was however just a continental sryle this time which was quite adequate, but a step down from the eggs benny and waffles cooked last time. Will definitely consider a 3rd stay soon !

National Trust like experience
The place looked impressive in the photos and was even better in person. It is well-restored, and we had a very comfortable room. Breakfast was OK, and the dining room was also impressive. It is effectively a bed and breakfast. When we checked in around 6:00 p.m., the fellow at the desk was going home. He indicated that he was already on call if we had a problem and gave us his mobile number. My wife was very pleased with my selection and would like to stay there again.
