We stayed a Klækken and the general impression is 'Nice enough, but not fantastic'. I am sure that the hotel was once full of glorious splendour, but is showing signs of aging that it may be past its prime, similar to the many of the guests.
The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the staff at the reception were pleasant as you would expect but the kitchen and dining was a little chaotic.
We stayed a few hotels during corona time while in Norway, but this one seemed the least organised. Breakfast was a 20 minute wait and dinner was only a set menu.
Despite being a few months in to the corona situation, they still hadn't updated the simple, photocopied piece of paper adverting the cheaper, more appealing Summer buffet. Similarly, there wasn't even a drinks menu to see the price of a bottle/glass of beer or wine was. Both these things should have been very easy for a restaurant that seems to aim for 'fine dining'.
