Wouldn't call this a hotel
Firstly the owner couldn't find our booking. This would be fine, but he was just unhelpful in resolving this, and came across as rude and indifferent. He kept just saying "I haven't got any money from you" or "you should call the company you booked through" (like no you should). We kept asking for the Wi-Fi so we could try to resolve this and he just stood there, then took ages to get it. Once on Wi-Fi we got in touch with hotels.com who instantly resolved the issue by calling him, then the owner just disappeared, didn't tell us the outcome, and we had questions about our stay no one else could answer. Other staff were nice, especially the 2 guys who helped us hail a bus, but they were unable make decisions or bookings it was always "wait for boss" who was never there. During our stay, rooms were never cleaned and we were never given new towels. We asked about the buffet and were told there was none. The a la carte menu was really expensive for Sri Lanka so didn't try. Room was fine but no toiletries, and some cobwebs where the toiletries would go so it wasn't properly cleaned. We asked about the safari but kept getting different info re: times. In the end didn't bother as we heard it was a traffic jam of jeeps chasing elephants. We saw elephants crossing the road anyway near P'nawura. Breakfast was toast, fruit, eggs- nothing local. Air con in room was good, and it was easy to get a bus to or from Anuradhapura, Dambulla or Polonnaruwa. Quite far from town and food options.
