It would be inappropriate to say that Hotel Aureila is a “diamond in the rough.” It’s more a “diamond in a mediocre semi-urban area that was perfectly located just outside the Black Forest.” Kinda rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?
The lobby wasn’t elegant, but it was clean and nice, and the check-in staff was polite and helpful without making me feel like the overly important person my mom says I am. Parking was conveniently located either right in front of the building or underneath it in a garage. The elevator took us straight up and we rolled into our room about 2 minutes after locking the car.
Our room was amazing. It was awesome. The youth of today would say it was “lit.” (I honestly have no idea what the youth of today say. But it was a darn good room.) It had a clean kitchenette and comfy sectional. The balcony, while looking out over retail space, was large and comfortable. The ample closets had lights that turned off and on when you open and closed the doors. Fancy.
The bed was perfect. No complaints. I dozed like a cat in the sun. I snored like a dog on the porch. I….I slept really well.
The bathroom was fancy with a ton of counter space, Separate WC and a huge shower with perfect acoustics for practicing my Madame Butterfly.
The restaurant downstairs was nice. It had a great vibe, tasty food, and the waitress was excellent! My wife’s cheese plate was almost the exact same size as a 1982 Lamborghini Countach.
