As a guest, I don't like to be treated as the source of income more than the amount of money I pay for the hotel.
The owner was waiting for me at the bus station (NOT requested) and he INSISTED that my suitcase was too heavy to carry and walk to his hostel. I didn't wanna be rude, so I got into the taxi with him. The driver was his "friend" and charged me the double of going around rate of town. The driver made sure to make many detours so it looked far enough for that price.
After checking in, he wanted me to apply for the tours.
I had no intention of going through him for any Nasca sightseeing. I felt his attitude was overall insincere and wanted to go to agencies to see the rate.
Regardless of if he had any bad intention or not, I give him a plain "no" many times, and he doesn't take no for an answer. In both cases of taxi ride and Nasca, I did not see his gesture as an invitation because each time he insisted on taking his offer too much. Even after I paid an agency for the tours, he wanted to know the price I paid, or which agency. I wish he had treated me as just a hostel guest. It was too much.
