Great friendly hotel.
Lovely place, been here a few times when camping next to this place for food so it was a pleasant surprise when I turned up and realised I had booked this for an overnight stay. Lovely place, great staff & Lovely food.

Lovely hotel. Room was nice and great bath! Staff were friendly and we were made to feel welcome. Nice quiet location, it's a good base to drive around area. My only criticism would be very hard bed and the service in the restaurant at night disappeared half way through our meal (before that it was excellent). Thank you though as we had a lovely stay.

I liked the location. The place lacked atmosphere, came back to the pub at 10pm on the Saturday night and the lights were all off - no one was there - staff came out after a while and we felt like we were intruding. Very odd. The room wasn’t as clean as we would have liked and the single bed in our family room had springs sticking up. Breakfast was good so not all bad and the receptionist was friendly.

Great wedding venue.
Excellent service by friendly staff. We stayed here as we attended a wedding function. Staff worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly. The food was excellent. I would recommend this hotel. My only comment would be the outside clock chimes through the night. Maybe it was worse as we had the window open but it would be better if it could be silenced at night.

Execellent Downe Arms Hotel
Excellent stay. Staff very attentive. Location great for Scarborough Open Air Theatre (6 miles) where we enjoyed Alfie Boe concert. Superb breakfast the following morning. Would recommend to anyone not wishing to be in the busy town centre.

Lovely little gem in the middle of a quaint village. Hotel is an old farmhouse and it really is lovely. Good history as the original Lord Downe and his family lived on the bottom two floors and the servants at the top where the half round windows are. Room sizes differ and we attended with a party of 4 and had two rooms. 207 & 208. I preferred the coziness of room 208 which also had a larger TV and for me, a nicer bathroom and carpet than room 2007. View from these two rooms is of a side road and lots of fields. The hotel is very clean, staff are attentive, the bar is situated to the side and serves very good value meals. Breakfast is really good as you start with continental and then there is a menu where you can choose between full cooked English breakfast, Eggs benedict, eggs royal, to name a few. There is free parking and ample of it., The hotel is situated next to a church with a separate bell tower which is a lovely walk to be had in and amongst it all. The hotel is situated on a main road but the noise of such is not heard from inside the hotel. I would recommend this place.
