Definitely a Budget Choice
An older hotel. Relatively clean room. Tried some upgrading. The bathroom has been ungraded, but definitely on a budget as with the other renovation. Has an old musty hotel feeling. Okay for budget hotel if you can get it a low enough price

The hotel and Malta are really good, all the steps keep you really fit, loads of good restaurants. The only criticism of the hotel is the shower curtain, get rid of it, put up a shower screen

My recent stay
It was a very enjoyable stay. The rooms were basic but included a shower and of course had a fantastic view across the Grand Harbour. Reception was courteous and efficient. Continental buffet breakfast was more than reasonable and of good quality and variety. I would recommend the hotel to future visitors for excellent value for money.

2/10 Poor

One star for location. Minus 4 for rest. Biggest issue is noise. I booked the room called 3 bedroom with view. It is next to the elevator that people take to bar and restaurant. Plus there is a public toilet on the floor so lots of noise. Plus its the first thing they clean in the morning. It will wake you up. And breakfast set up and eater noise too. I came in late the first night and it was raining so no noise until morning. Night 2 they booked a huge party that started at 8pm and lasted until 2am. Then they cleaned up until 3am. Then they started again at 530am. My complaints were scoffed at or ignored. The third night a group of youngsters gathered outside after the bars closed and yapped until sunrise. Not the hotels fault but indicative of what you may go through. Plus there is the car and deliveries to the bar noise early on. The room is bare. I expected that. Tv could be upgraded past tablet size. Only 10 terrible channels. Ac is old and weak. No way above shower water heater stays hot for 5 people. It ran out most times for me. Bathroom window wont close. Safe seemed to require some odd key. Shuttle would not drop me off here. Had to walk from city center. Things could be easily addressed but i got the feeling that they consider you an imposition and not whom makes their existence possible.

Location was great - close to ferry and other sights. They have a great service for those that need to check out but not ready to leave the city. They kept our bags, provided free WiFi, a lounge where we could hang out When we needed a break and another outdoor lounge overlooking the harbor where we spent the early evening. They called and arranged for a taxi to and from the airport. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and that’s all that we required. Staff could not have been more helpful in helping us determine how we would spend our day. We would stay there again just based on the aforementioned items.

Location was great, it was very close to the buzzing township and the historic land marks. I stayed only 1 night to join a P&O ship the next day,a very close walk to the Pinto Port 10-15 mins scenic and relaxing stroll. The room was basic, clean and spacious just what was required, the restuarnt and terrace roof had fantasic views with the resturant serving great food and very friendly waiting staff. I had he Rabbit and Pasta delicious!. All very friendly staff, thank you for a memorable positive stay

Would I stay again .... probably not.
We had to check in last minute due to a canceled flight. Thankfully the British hotel had a room. However on calling up quoted us a more expensive than the site hotels.com however the staff advised us to book through the site to get lower price. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff. We were handed our keys and went of to our room. The room was ok three single beds. It the room was extremely hot!!!! The air con did not work and the fan was no good not ideal for a family room with a young child. The shows was terrible and no warm water to wash only stone cold which in fairness was refreshing in the 35 degree heat. the hotel was ideal for a quick fix but would I stay there again probably not. The only plus this hotel offers is a fantastic few of the balcony.

Loved the location and the bar looking over the water. Main public areas were very contemporary but really disappointed with our room. Needed complete make over as really dated and not in keeping with rest of hotel. Also would have appreciated a sea view as I thought that the room was overpriced and not good value for money. Went to the panoramic room at the top. What an awful space. Had broken chairs and expected a bit more. Wouldn’t recommend as a really let down. Best bit of hotel was the location.

Original room given not fit for purpose
Asked for a room change after my second night, which staff were able to quickly arrange for me. New room much quieter, hair dryer worked, as did plug in sink, better signal on TV and no green security light on in room all night. Would have given much higher overall score if in that room from outset.

This property had a spectacular view of the harbor. Its location was perfect for walking through Valletta. From the Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens, to St John’s Co-Cathedral and the shops and restaurants - it was all within walking distance. Catching a bus to visit sites on Malta and to Gozo and Comino, the British Hotel was a fantastic place to stay. The staff was so helpful and the breakfast was a wonderful start to our busy days of sightseeing. The fireworks we saw as we walked through the Lower Barrakka Gardens was an unforgettable experience.

Great location but a very tired looking hotel with the most uncomfortable beds ever and a shower room that was no more than a cupboard. I tried to change my booking so that I could move across to the British Suites which is part of the same hotel complex but nicer and was refused.

Malta, worth a visit
Malta is full of history so it cannot fail to interest many people. It is a small series of islands and it is easy to get around. We managed to see as much as we wanted in our week's stay. It has had its periods of splendour and some of the churches and palaces with their baroque architecture remind one of the Renaissance in Italy. Valetta is built on a rocky ridge so there are some streets with steep hills and many steps. We're an older couple and sometimes this was not so easy. Tourists are well catered for with organised tours, boat trips, horse drawn carriages, bike hire, taxis and an efficient, cheap local bus service. Lonely Planet Guidebook was adequate but could be improved and there are other guidebooks. Agenda bookshop in Republic Street, Valletta has a selection.

Stay here.
The bed was like a rock, and totally uncomfortable, We both had a very difficult time sleeping. Otherwise the Hotel was nice, Perfect location, great price, good breakfast although the business of paying first at the front desk was a bit silly as was the cost of coffee without breakfast. The one night we attempted to use the hotel Lounge, it was closed for a private party. Hah!! WiFi connection was only made when we opened our door and held the device in the hallway.
