Ai Due Fanali was a mixed experience. Good location near the railway station and bus stop, and near the Grand Canal. The much more upscale "sister" property, Ca' Nigra, has a very beautiful garden where we could have breakfast (VERY pricey at 20 euro) or drinks. But the bed wasn't very comfortable, there was no mini-bar, and the only curtains that covered the window were sheer (the heavier curtains at the side were narrow and just for show). The hairdryer was an ancient wall-mounted model that worked very poorly - low air flow, and it kept shutting off - and when I asked for a "real" hairdryer I was given a North American model that wouldn't work (even with a plug adapter) because it didn't have dual voltage - something that the man at the front desk didn't seem to understand. The room phone was out of service (so I couldn't contact the front desk easily about the hairdryer) and the shower door wasn't properly hung and wouldn't close (although this was fixed after I reported it). Many of the photos on the website are very misleading and show common spaces that I never laid eyes on in my 5-night stay - e.g. the tiny table outside the hotel (which is unstaffed - only Ca' Nigra has any staff) is NOT a place where you can get any food or drink, so labeling it "Outdoor Dining" is very misleading; and the breakfast room is windowless - although weather permitting you can eat in the garden.
