Location close to subway, and staff were for most part very nice. Breakfast included is nice option. There was flooding one night above our floor (we were on 3rd), so our neighboring room had to be disturbed for emergency repairs to be made -- from about 2am into the next day -- to our floor and, presumably, to others, including the lobby ceiling. But let's assume that was a one-off.

No room for my booking
I was told to go to a different hotel two blocks away. No advance notice about the hotel I booked being not able to accommodate my stay. Very strange without any real explaination on why it happened. The hotel I was directed to was even less helpful.

This hotel is now a flop house
This hotel had been sold 3 weeks prior to our arrival and we didn't even get an email about this. We had to check in at this now flop house and then travel about a mile to a Holiday Inn. The girl on the desk was very helpful but I am not amused that we had to find out about this when we got there. Some friends who were meeting us the next day also had to check in there despite being accommodated in the Holiday Inn. Very, Very poor service from Expedia.

OVERBOOKED OUR ROOM! Nowhere to stay!!!
TERRIBLE!!!!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE! We had booked our double room MONTHS in advance, but when we arrived they were “overbooked”. There wasn’t a single manager on site, the woman at the front desk had only been working there for a week, and she had no idea how to fix the problem. She kept calling her boss on her cell phone to try and get the situation resolved, but the manager wasn’t helpful and refused to speak with us or come in to work to remedy the situation. We asked if there were ANY rooms available, and the desk stated that they were actually NEGATIVE a room, and that one of the rooms was out of order. They called the Holiday Inn Express to see if they could send us to them, and then told us that WE would have to order AND PAY FOR a taxi to another hotel! We asked for a refund, as we WEREN’T going to be staying in the hotel because they had overbooked our room, and the hotel refused. They stated that if we wanted a refund we would have to accept a SINGLE BED room, that they were pretty sure hadn’t been cleaned, and that if we took the dirty room we would only get a 25% refund OF THE FIRST NIGHT! Once the Holiday Inn Express called back, The Red Lion receptionist paid a cab driver OUT OF HER OWN POCKET, because the hotel refused to cover our relocation, to get us to the other hotel.... Where we were put in the very last room they had open, with a door that WOULDN’T LATCH CORRECTLY. Not only was our reservation not honored, our safety was put at risk. Disgusted.

Good hotel for price.
It isn’t easy to find a hotel for under $200 in Brooklyn that is still nice. The only thing missing was a microwave. I was happening to have one cause I stayed multiple days and I wanted to save on food. But besides that...obviously small issue...the hotel was great for its price.

Weekend at Red Lion
Did not realize parking was extra, that is not standard procedure at other hotels I had stayed before in that area of Brooklyn. Also unaccostomed to the security charges, but don’t mind providing we do get it back as promised. Did not like the random 33$ charge that appeared on my credit card that I need to call the hotel about,no idea why I was charged that. The bed was super comfortable,as well as the bedding and pillows. Bathroom nice size, clean, and loved the bath products. The coffee in the dining room, available 24/7,was delicious. The food included in the free breakfast the usual boring selections, some muffins or danish would have been appreciated. Area of Brooklyn hotel in has lots of places in walking distance nearby, including subway stop and Barclays Center. Area immediately surrounding hotel a bit shabby with empty lots around, warehouses, and a lot of litter. All the staff at the hotel were most kind,no complaints there.

I miss the bed and pillows already
The hotel itself was nicely decorated, the bed was amazing and the bathroom was nice. The rooms weren’t massive but do look like the pictures and there was enough room for 2 people for a week without feeling on top of each other. There’s a small wardrobe for your clothes and lots of plug sockets - even some USB outlets which is good if you don’t have many American adaptors. Staff were all very helpful, we were able to leave our suitcases on the last day as we didn’t fly until late in the evening. The only issue we faced was that the corridor and lift especially smelled like weed every so often which was off-putting. The distance to the subway station was good, around 10 minutes and you could be in Manhattan within 30, however this did get a bit tiring after staying in New York for a week. If you don’t mind the travelling then you will be just fine. The area itself is fine, we never had any problems however it is quite industrial with graffiti around but we felt perfectly safe walking back late at night.

HORRIBLE!!!
I booked 1 first floor room for my sister, husband & myself (avg $225/night x 4 nights), and 2 additional sixth floor rooms for our four sons and 2 of their wives (avg $209/night x 2 nights) to attend our father/grandfather’s wake/funeral. While the rooms are small, but mostly clean, the breakfast selections decent, and (most) staff are great, the location is horrible - filthy, noisy, and dangerous. The door & window in our room were irreparably ajar at the top corner, the only elevator was out of order for over 12 hours one day & again for a little while the next day. The only ATM machine was out of order both times my sister tried to use it. What appeared to be non-guests are allowed to sit out front and roam the inside (especially stairwell), and are constantly being escorted out, arguing and fighting out front. Guests cannot sit out front to smoke without being asked for cigarettes. My oldest son rode down in the elevator with a man blatantly conducting a drug deal via telephone, and my youngest son was approached twice by a man telling him what drugs he was selling. On our last night there we were informed by a reliable source that the hotel is occupied by recently-released, homeless convicts. NEVER AGAIN!

The hotel personnel were very accommodating. Room a bit tight, but we were up and about everyday. Breakfast area was nice size, could always find a seat, and staff there to refill coffee and food items. Floor occasionally noisy, but manageable. Would stay again.

Watch out....
The hotel is listed as a Red Lion Inn however, there were tenants in the same building and on google maps it’s not listed as a hotel. There was a large amount of trash outside, and our vent to the air conditioner kept blowing dust out. They have us another room in which the bathtub was not clean. Things could be better but details were missed.

The hotel was a good value for the price. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. A good shower with plenty of hot water. Left before the breakfast was being served, but coffee was available around the clock.
