It is impossible not to love this place, set in one of the most idyllic places you could wish for, and everything about the hotel matches the location.

A well maintained property with great amenities included (snorkling gear, table tennis, badminton, kayaks, SUP, beach volleyball, mountain bikes) quiet vibes but perfect to get away from it all

The resort is excellent, located in a place that is the closest we’ve seen to Paradise. In addition the staff is really friendly. It’s been an absolute pleasure.

The overall experience at the Meridien was amazing from the start of our stay till the end. The hotel staff picked us up from the hotel, they also had everything ready for our check-in. The beach is gorgeous and the view amazing. The natural pool is really nice and it is at walking distance. The food was delicious and the size of the serve just right. The staff was also friendly and help us with our requests.

My stay at the méridien was wonderful… I was upgraded to a bungalow and treated like royalty… the bungalow was super well equipped and ultra comfortable. The staff at the hotel was very professional, efficient, and friendly! They did go out of their way to make us feel special… I hope that I get a chance to go back and stay there again, one day

Walkable distance (10-15min) to the Natural Pool. Most of the staff were supportive but some were rude to guests who didn't speak French. Breakfast was okay, not many options. There is no restaurants, shops around the area, so make sure to bring your own meal if you don't want to dine at the same restaurant for a few days.
Manami, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

There were a few problems with the equipment, such as broken switches and safes, and poorly placed doors, but the natural beauty and good service of the staff more than made up for it.
KOJI, 3-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

A beautiful location almost surrounded by water. Service was excellent and the staff are very friendly. The problem for us was the room lighting; it was a like being in a twilight zone ! It was too dim to read a book! The other problem was that we were unable to access the Internet on our i-Pads in the room, though the phone connection was good.
Evelyn, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Having visited over 130 countries (and a bundle of beaches), the Meridien at Iles de Pins has to take the crown for the most idilic place anywhere. The amenities are top notch and the beach, sea, azure skies, trees are all entirely breathtaking. Unlike Australia, there are no sharks, no stinging jelly fish, no flies and no crocodiles either. And even the wifi works everywhere! Not cheap but worth every penny.

Paradise !

One of the nicer hotels we have stayed at. Very quiet, yet plenty of activities to keep you busy if you're up for it. The proximity to the Natural Pools was great, and the staff were very helpful in organising airport transfers, the Pirog outrigger canoe tour, etc. Sebastien (the manager) also made a point of introducing himself which was great, and you can see that there is still plenty to do after the hotel had been closed for 2 years due to Covid. The only constructive criticism I sould make would be that I thought the lunch/dinner menu was a little limited if you were looking for a smaller (for cost effective) meal. Otherwise...fantastic. Hope to get back there again sometime in the future.
Rodney, 4-night trip

Not up to Expectation for the Price

We stayed at the Le Meridian for 4 nights. The hotel itself was rather underwelming for the over NZ$500 per night we paid to stay there. The staff were excellent and tried their best. Breakfast was a highlight with great choices and so was dinner, however it is very expensive. The gym had no towels or water but was adequate for the length of stay. We had to request our room to be serviced on 3 afternoons as it hadn't been done. The pool and outdoor area is very nice along with the beach and surrounds.
G M, 5-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

It’s a beautiful resort, on a bay with crystal clear water. We saw stingrays and turtles out in the bay. Kayaks and paddle boards available at high tide, also snorkeling equipment. Really worth going out on the lagoon around the island(s), water is astounding. We had beachside bungalow, literally 10 metres to the water. Lovely pool. Dining and cleaning staff super friendly and accommodating with v good English. There is no shop and no other cafes nearby, and there were no bikes available when we were there, so a bit restricting. But NC just reopened after Covid, so we were impressed with how well organised they were, including transfers and checkout. Food was nice, we expected better coffee, but we are pretty fussy. Would stay again although it’s nearly out of our price range; it was a beautiful holiday.

Can't Wait to Return

Stunning location on a beautiful lagoon. Our room was large and well appointed with a nice view of the pool area and lovely landscaping. We enjoyed the pool and beach area everyday and loved the games, SUP's and bikes available for us to explore the area and get out snorkeling. The bay is very tidal so you can not swim at all times of day but there are many other options to keep you happy. Breakfast buffet was very nice, and all the tables are set for you to see the beautiful water view. Service was fantastic, all the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful and cheerful. Grounds were lovingly maintained and the atmosphere peaceful. Dinner was expensive and perhaps not what I would call gourmet, and wine list overpriced for lower quality wines compared to what is available in Noumea. Overall we plan to return to this resort as we loved our 5 day stay and fell in love with Ile des Pins. Wonderful for couples but also for families. Can't wait to return!
4-night trip

8/10 Very good

The location of the property is very exclusive. you can easily spend a whole day on Oro Bay, or pay a visit to Natural Pool. The staffs are all warm and friendly. We traveld with our 21 months old, and the hotel manager did everything he could to help us out with special needs. As he explained, the resort was closed for 2 yrs due to covid, they lost a lot of staffs. They just open up and they have dificulty to hire staff and need to train the new staffs. They will invest the income to bring it up to level. I apreciated the honesty, covid made a big impact to hospitality industry. They deserve some understanding. One thing we don't really agree with is they charge shuttle between the airport. At a such exclusive location and premium room rate, you would expect the hotel to offer free shuttle. Overall, if you want to enjoy private space and breath taking view, this place won't disappoint you.

8/10 Very good

Overall we had a lovely stay at this property but did have some criticism. Positive: The beach and natural pool (15 min walk) is beautiful! The water is crystal clear, and soft sand. We had a garden view, standard room which was spacious and bed was really comfortable. Lovely pool to relax at during the day or sun loungers on the beach. Also have hammocks in the garden which was lovely to read a book in the shade. Buffet breakfast had a good selection with fresh eggs and pancakes. Some great staff stood out - Marie in restaurant, Corinne at reception and Sebastian/Christian management. Negative: The food! Very expensive and bland. We skipped lunch entirely because we knew we’d be disappointed so if you’re foodies, I’d avoid New Calendonia entirely as we didn’t have any good food for our entire stay on the mainland either. If you do stay here, the snack menu is the best and you can opt for this at dinner (burger, pasta)! If you’re English speaking, the language barrier can be really challenging. Brush up on your French! We also need the boat excursion to Brosse island, we only saw one turtle but did then the island beach was sensational. Much cheaper to book direct with boat company before you arrive (half the price). We also tried to book a massage but fully booked so pre-book this if interested.

We came here for our honeymoon. I wanted a beautiful beach away from people and noise and Le Meridien exceeded my expectations. The beach view bungalow was spacious and comfortable and we had our own balcony with lounger. I loved the cabanas on the beach and spent a lot of time reading there in peace and quiet. The breakfast buffet was good, similar to other resorts but the french toast was my favourite. The restaurant menu had limited options (no pizza or pasta or curry) but there were interesting specials every day and a wonderful buffet on Saturday. After dinner we would stroll back down the beach with a torch and watch the cute hermit crabs scuttle around. The staff were all lovely and helpful (especially Christian and the guy in the beach fare) even if they found it difficult to understand our kiwi English sometimes. If you like snorkelling you should walk around the sand river to the natural pool at low tide. At high tide you need use fins and to swim out 0.5km into the bay to find coral and lots of fish. Near the rock in the middle of the bay is a good spot. Also between Île Kônubutr and Île Mwâréya I saw turtles. There is also a nice 1 hour walk to Upi bay. It would be good if they had a boat to take you further out for snorkelling. Otherwise you have to take a shuttle to Kuto bay for the boat tour. Overall, it was a lovely place for a honeymoon.
Yvonne, 6-night trip

4/10 Fair

There was no pool during our 8 night stay (especially disappointing since the beach was closed due to shark attacks - not the hotel's fault obviously but made it worse). The alternative was to go to the hotel next door to use their pool but they had very loud construction going on each day. The pool was supposed to be back up and running halfway through our stay but the repairs went very slowly and then they couldn't get the water quality right after it was filled, so it was only opened on the afternoon of our last day! During the last few days there was construction outside out room during the day. There was a poor selection of evening eating options. We did enjoy the Latitude bar for pre-dinner drinks but even there, scaffolding was erected inside the bar for the last few days! No compensation was offered by the hotel for the reduced facilities, inconvenience and disruption. Most of the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful, and did their best to help us with activities and dealing with the airlines during the Isle of Pines airport blockade. Especially Luna, who was very helpful, patient and extremely pleasant to deal with!!! She went out of her way to help me deal with the airline when trying to find out about flight disruptions and re-booking options (which wasn't easy for a non-french speaker). She also did a wonderful job suggesting and arranging activities for us, all of which we enjoyed very much. The activities Luna helped us chose were the highlight of our h

2/10 Poor

The hotel itself is not bad, definitely not responding to the stars it has or the price they charge. I did booking for two days, after a month they called me saying that they are gonna have an event so they need to cancel one night of my reservation. Considering how many places are on the island, it’s not best feeling the hotel to cancel one of the nights. Absolutely ridiculous. No one contacted Expedia for a refund, none of the staff knew about my situation, I had to explain over and over again to every member that came to the front desk. At the end I had to deal with the refund for more than an hour just to figure out that no one from the resort ever contacted the expedia. They were trying to convince me that my card was charged just for one night even though I have a proof of the charge for two nights. There was no apology, there’s no even a free transfer to the hotel considering they just got rid of someone just to take more money from someone else. With this type of attitude I’ll definitely not recommend going there seeing no one gave a …. For their customers. The room was clean and spacious with beautiful view. The food at the restaurant is mediocre and overpriced. The drinks were extremely bad. The area around the resort is beautiful just like every part of the island. You can stay in a cheaper place with better beaches and better service.
