Taj Cape Town
"The overall stay was excellent. Breakfast had so many options, each dish was unique. Dinner at the Bombay Brasserie was out of the world, each dish fresh, delicately flavored and distinctive!! Of special mention - the honesty of the housekeeping staff. I had dropped some cash, leaving the room, unaware of my loss. When I returned, there was a note by security, with all the cash intact. I would recommend Taj in Cape Town for a wonderful stay in a prime location with an amazingly helpful cheerful staff."
Hôtel & Ryads Barrière Le Naoura
"Great staff!"
Sarova Stanley Hotel, Nairobi
"Very thoughtful and warm hospitality. They even surprised me with a birthday cake while the staff sang beautiful birthday song for me. They are the best. Thank you Sarova Stanley"
Hivernage Hotel And Spa
"5 stars all round for this hotel. Good breakfast and spacious clean rooms. Location was perfect, in the nicer area of Marrakech and within walking distance to the main areas. Service was impeccable and staff go out of their way to help make the stay comfortable. I informed hotel about a birthday, They set up the room with flowers and treats to make the day special! Thank you to guest relations manager for making it extra memorable. Will deffo book at this hotel when visiting Marrakech again!"
Novotel Marrakech Hivernage
"Nice hotel and nice location"
Kenzi Rose Garden
"Hotel was very nice. The Hamman was wonderful. Pools were great, food was delicious. And if I ever go back to Marrakech I’ll definitely be staying here again"
Palais Sebban
"Beautiful place in the convenient location"
Le Riad Monceau
"What a jewel of a place among so many Riads to choose from. They pick you up from the airport and bring you right to the Riad so you don’t have to find it inside the Medina. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. While they check you in, a little Moroccan tea and an almond delicacy. Room is small but very comfortable and has everything. AC, tea, water, some peaches all charming and well above my expectations for the price of the room. The best is their jazz band playing at their restaurant Arabe and their roof top patio La Pergola which is bustling with life in the open sky air. Both staff and food were great. It was a very pleasant experience. Soram the manager made our check out great by showing us a map and where to go, offering guide or taxi services and keeping our luggage until we came back. I would go again as it made our coming to Marrakesh for the first time not stressful at all. They’re very simpatico"
Marrakech Riads, Angsana Heritage Collection
"Pour notre 1er voyage à Marrakech ce Riad nous a complètement charmé. Il est à la fois très beau, très agréable, bien placé pour les visites de la médina et le personnel y a été agréable. Les petits déjeuners typiques et variés proposés tous les matins sont très bons et le dîner au restaurant était également délicieux ! Nous y reviendrons avec plaisir."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Africa
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable months to visit Africa are May, June, and September, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For an enriching experience exploring the continent's significant landmarks, historical sites, and cultural attractions, it is advisable to stay for at least 3 days. This timeframe allows budget-conscious travellers to gain great value for money while immersing themselves in Africa's natural wonders and heritage. By planning your visit during these months, you could benefit from lower prices, making it a perfect opportunity for those looking to explore on a budget.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To explore great hotel deals in Africa, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates as your travel date approaches. Enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com could keep you informed about flash sales and special promotions, helping you seize opportunities to save. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows travellers to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're among the first to know if availability changes or prices drop, making it easier to book a last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on various factors including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a more favourable rate for your stay at an African hotel. If you're in search of something distinctive, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and can sometimes offer better value. When you make a booking through Hotels.com, we will inform you if the prices for your chosen dates are above or below the average. Should the price be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you discover a more advantageous rate.
- Consider your location: Staying in the heart of major cities across Africa often offers unparalleled convenience, yet it typically comes with a heftier price tag. While the allure of immediate access to local attractions is undeniable, accommodation in these bustling areas is generally more expensive. In contrast, smaller towns and rural regions are more likely to be affordable, providing a wider range of budget-friendly options. For those seeking better rates, considering hotels situated just outside the city centre can be a wise choice, even if it means a bit of extra travel to reach key sights. Alternatively, exploring nearby cities can yield a wealth of experiences without the premium prices associated with central locations.
Best time to go to Africa
Africa has a varied climate due to its size, so the best time to visit depends on the region and your preferences for weather and crowds. The peak travel months to visit Africa are October to December, which see a higher number of tourists. During this peak period, the weather is sunny to mostly sunny, accompanied by no to light rainfall. In contrast, April to June are ideal if you're looking for a calmer vacation, marked by no rainfall and sunny conditions.
