Lovely stay

We had a lovely stay there, unfortunately due to long holiday, we can’t extend our stay for another night. Lovely dinner and brekkie. The owner gave us advised on what to do in Cornwall (our next destination).

Amazing place. Very friendly, clean and comfy room

Amazing people, very friendly and welcoming. Really nice pub, room was great, comfy and clean. Plenty of parking. Overall very good place to stay - would have been good to about the church clock that strikes every 15mins all day and night though!

Lovely over night stay

First time we've stayed at the mildmay arms. We stopped off for an over night stay before going to Weymouth. Very friendly people. Lovely room and comfy bed. Had a BBQ while we were there which was lovely! Nice breakfast.

I enjoyed the ease to park as well as the voice of drink in the bar. I loved the value for money with the food and there was more than enough of it. The staff were lovely and friendly. The only downside for me was the lovely church around 80 metres away. For some reason, I could hear the bells through the night whilst the window was open. It may have been a rogue night but the bells could be heard.

The staff could not have been friendlier. Even the locals liked to chat. The room was well presented and clean. The bed wasn’t too bad we could have done with a couple more pillows but that was our fault for not asking for more. The continental breakfast was adequate. The restaurant was closed for our first night. but had a good meal there the second night generous portions and very tasty It’s a nice quiet village pub with good access to all local routs around the area I would go back when in the area again

6/10 Good

There was a warm welcome, but that's where it ended. The water was tepid at best both in the evening and in the morning. I and two other guests came down for the breakfast that we were promised and the place was shut up and dark. Not a soul to be found. The other guests and I managed to find some cereal and milk to which we helped ourselves. The manager caught up with me later on and apologised profusely but that did not help. These are the reasons I checked out three days early.

6/10 Good

Friendly but underwhelming.

We chose the location as a stop-off enroute to Cornwall. We met the very friendly owners but unfortunately, had a slightly disappointing stay. The superior ensuite twin room was really just a standard twin room with nothing really superior about it. An armchair may have made it more comfortable, if spending more time there. The bathroom was clean with a powerful shower, but the lighting was very poor and the green emergency lights, particularly in the bedroom above the door, were disturbing at night. We had planned to eat at Mildmay Arms on the evening of our arrival, but discovered the kitchen was under maintenance so we had to travel on to another village to find a meal. We had also expected (perhaps wrongly) to have a cooked breakfast in the morning, but were told that only a 'continental' breakfast is now offered. Unfortunately, that was also rather underwhelming and we'd have done better to have breakfast elsewhere. So, in summary - a basic bed for the night. (Once the kitchen is operating, it may well be good for an evening meal, but don't expect much more than cereal and toast for breakfast.)

No dinner was offered and breakfast didn't open until 0900 so missed breakfast as had to leave before then!

Mildmay Arms gets 6 stars.

I cannot say enough good things about Mildmay Arms. The staff were very welcoming, the food was excellent, and the tutorial on the game of Skittles was awesome.

8/10 Very good

It's a lovely old pub in a beautiful village Queen Camel that is full of old world charm. Quite remote with only one shop that we could find. The hosts were very friendly and even helped us in with our bags. The parking out the front was really handy. We ate the first night and the food was amazing. It was very noisy at night with music on into the early hours but the room was clean. Breakfast was adequate. We wanted to dine in on the Sunday night but found out they'd stopped serving food at 5pm, we didn't see anything to that effect and as it's a long way from anywhere it was lucky we had some snacks with us. Altogether it was a pleasant stay.
caroline, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

The room was ok for the price but what really let it down was the bed. The mattress was a poor quantity and so was the cheap pillows and bed linen. The breakfast was very basic with just continental on offer.

Godt og billigt hotel

Dejligt lille overnatningssted. Værelset er stort og meget rent. Billigt og faktisk god service. Der er mulighed for mad i restauranten på stedet.
