Lovely Hotel in the Florida Keys, Not “Accessible”
The location was excellent, right on the water with a beautiful view. The room was spacious, modern and clean. The only drawback was that the room was listed as “accessible” in the listing. My husband is in a wheelchair, so this is a necessity. Although the room was on the ground floor (a must), the shower was a tub-shower and not accessible to him. We made do, but I would not have booked this room if I had known that he wouldn’t be able to shower.

Check your bed(s) for hair!
Found multiple hairs in the sheets on the bed!!!! Check in at the front desk was fine. The layout of the room ok. No lighting around the pool at night. Doesn’t feel good getting out of the car in the parking lot while it’s pitch black on one side.

Poor cleaning unpleasant cleaner
I was going to give a nice review, but the room was dirty and smelt, it had not been cleaned properly, of which I reported, and the cleaner gave me wife a nasty look as she left and as I was ready to drive off,she stared at me and gave me a clear and horrible stare, it was appalling

Would not recommend
There were a few reasons that we booked our stay here..
They advertise a tiki bar ( where we could have a drink or two then walk to our room. )
And a restaurant (where we could have a good breakfast to start our day) Their add also advertise fishing. As the hotel is on the water.)
After checking in we were informed that the tiki bar only has coffee and tea in the morning.. the bar closed down 2 years ago.
The restaurant only serves dinner from (what we were told at the front desk "I think
They open around 4:30 or 5:00)
And as far as the fishing??? They have no fishing signs all around the shoreline and dock.
Also the bed was wore out, We slept in the hole in the middle of it.

People upstairs had kids that would run back and fourth all day and night the office close at midnight no one around. If you need and snack or something after 9pm nothing is around unless u want to drive 45 mins. Only 2 restaurants close which is the property restaurant which is over priced and can't follow simple instructions and baby cakes which has a few breakfast sandwiches and coffee.Room was ok property was pretty clean for the most part.

Sugarloaf Lodge is a keys landmark. The rooms were clean and comfortable and large with daily maid service. There is a bit of a retro 50s or 60s look to the room but I loved it! Great little quiet place close to many activities and close to Key West. Also love the pool. I will definitely be back.

Sugarloaf Lodge is old Florida. Nothing fancy, absolutely convenient with awesome boat parking and marina. Friendly staff and very clean rooms. We will come back for years to come and enjoy our time there. Perfect location to drive downtown.
