Island beachside accommodation
It was everything I expected. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Even managed to find a relative of nemo. Although they said WiFi was only available in common areas I did manage to get a bit in my room. They also provided a clothes airer for swimwear.

Lovely island and snorkelling especially to the left of the bar/food area. Limited selection of menu options in bar. Must walk round to nudey beach. Guided snorkel trip - saw more from the shore. Snorkelling guide insisted you jump off side of boat into sea, not suitable for novice or new snorkellers. Should be allowed to use steps going down slowly and back wards. Would not recommend. You are not supposed to take alchohol onto island yet we were on holiday and the bar was closing at 8pm and restaurant bar 8.30 - very disappointing. Island shop a joke - not very good selection only muffins, sausage rolls, crisps, ice cream, refreshments, good range of fresh sandwiches though. As many nic naks as food items. We left the island a night early because we wanted to go on a snorkelling outer reef tour.

Fitzroy. Don't bother
An hour here is too much. Beaches: disappointing. Resort: run down and tired. Public areas: dirty. Staff: indifferent and robotic bordering on useless Food: as bad as the place itself

The island was beautiful. Although our room had no working hot water. I emailed the receptionist as no one was at the desk. When checking out in the morning was just told that they would get maintenance to look at it…

The Island itself was picturesque. The lack of information, room, food was discraceful. I have written my concerns directly to the Manager on Fitzroy Is. Parking in Cairns is limited to 10 hours a day paid there was no one who could let me know where i could camp overnight to stay out on the island. I would have only done a day trip or not at all if i knew that you did not offer ant parking for YOUR customers. The fines i received should fall onto your company responsibilities $ 74.00 per day x 2 days, nights totaled $148.00 , if any of you decide to go out to Fitzroy island, note you will have to factor in parking fines, of up to $90.00 others got fined. Not a good look Fitzroy, for anyone.

I was initially excited when I arrived as the resort looks good after its make-over. The kickers for me are coral bleaching has devastated the snorkelling areas which was why I was there. Very very below pa service from under experienced staff learning on the job with a huge price tag in the restaurant. Food was good though but the coffee tasted like poison and on top of that you can't get a coffee after 2pm on the island. Lastly, the nightly movies are dated and the chairs in the cinema are dining chairs. It's impossible to sit through a feature film on a dining chair - talk about uncomfortable. There is nothing to do on the island after 8.30pm if you don't watch a movie

A beautiful island with ability to snorkel straight off the beach plus you can watch the whales passing by. Loved seeing all the turtles and fish on the coral.

Loved the location. The rooms were okay not resort level more budget level, needed an update. Staff friendly especially at the fish hub.Jenna was awesome on the kayak tour. The general store was a huge disappointment, very low stock , looked and felt depressing and as expected expensive. Great environment and staff but the resort needs some TLC

Lack of food options, we respected their rules of not bringing our own food/snacks and consequently regretted it, the general store had very little stock, breakfast and dinner -good menu but food barely warm, paid $30 surcharge for Sunday night restaurant dinner it was very nice food but served almost cold, couldn’t get a decent coffee all long life milk don’t understand this when the ferry is going back and forth at l ast two-three times a day

Lots of issues trying to book activities. Was told I could not book anything by the people who book the activities but was told by other staff they were the only ones who could book the activities. Apparently the issue was they assumed I was not staying at the resort. After I had walked back and forth a few times and got that issue sorted I was then booked in back to back activities and told the times and the staff even wrote down my schedule for me. Turned out my scuba safari started 30 minutes later so I had to leave earlier to get to my next activity. The staff were all nice enough - but very disorganized. Room ok - a bit dated. Bed quite hard. Quiet area which was nice.

Excellent except for the long wait and bad Food
The 3pm check in time and 10am check out is a bit rough if staying only one night. There is no flexibility in those times which was disappointing. We arrived on the 11 o’clock ferry and had to wait until nearly 3pm for a room. The restaurant food is aimed at a teenager taste; chips and burgers. Nothing healthy. The Vietnamese salad is terrible. Nothing Vietnamese about that, mostly cold noodles with a tiny bit of green. The cook should take a trip to Vietnam to see what it supposed to look like, with heaps of vegetables and little noodles.

Love the location and who wouldn’t? The place is very run down and not worthy of an overnight stay. Day trip for the location experience is a must! Also very noisy rooms if staying below one of the three floors as the floors are wooden beamed not concrete.
