Really nice B&B, comfortable and clean.

We had a very comfortable stay in the delightful room at the Mousetrap Inn, the size and decor of the rooms made up for the limited parking. We booked three rooms and my father has limited mobility, as all the rooms are on top floor there was no accessible room, so they gave him the one closest to the stairs. There was a noisy fan on all night which caused disrupted sleep. It either needs maintenance or switching off at night. Other than this it was a very pleasant stay with a lovely breakfast.

Absolutely lovely place! The staff were so kind and the rooms were perfect for us. Limited parking on site but street parking nearby. The pub was fabulous. Best hotel in the Cotswolds! We would stay here again for sure.

Rat trap vs Mouse trap

Because of rain we wanted to drop off our luggage. No one around. We stopped a person walking by and he went into kitchen to get us help. We left luggage but felt uneasy. It was in an hallway near dirty kitchen. Checking into our room we felt we were imposing on the staff. Very short and impatient. Same Later eating dinner. Again we felt like we were bothering the staff. The meal was good but not worth the grief nor the hassle. The exterior needs a LOT of cleaning and attention. Overall we would not recommend Customer service ruined our stay
Roger, 2-night trip

Cramped uncomfortable rooms opening onto a narrow dirty alley way. We would not stay here again.

6/10 Good

Picturesque, limited menu. Bar closes to early for residents and not consistently, as goes for the rest of the village plus staff can be quite rude and none attentive.

Never had hot food at breakfast. Most of the food was luke warm at best. Some item were stone cold. Only once were we given toast even after we asked for this included item. It really was poor stay.

6/10 Good

Very shabby room with filthy carpets and stained walls, shower door didn’t close.

2/10 Poor

Shortly before our stay, we received a notice from Mousetrap saying that their kitchen had caught fire and that they would not be able to have guests. This was out of their control and we understand. However, we still haven’t received a refund for what we paid and Expedia is telling us Mousetrap is declining to issue the refund for the stay that we weren’t able to take because of their fire.

Good location in Village

The Mousetrap Inn is located on the main road into Bourton - walking distance into the village which is positive. Checking in via the bar staff was perfect and the staff were very helpful. The car park however was very small so not ideal. Our room was small but clean and tidy but unfortunately looked out onto the very small car park which had a mobile refrigeratiion unit which was on 24/7. We thought the room was overpriced but due to it being summer and Bourton being a tourist attraction, the room rate was priced accordingly .... I guess. We had dinner in the evening, however due to the fact it was a Sunday we had to leave the restaurant/bar at 8.30 and go somewhere else to finish off our evening. The bar/restaurant staff were very helpful and sympathised with us. It seems strange that the rooms are dealt with separately from the Inn itself. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay but felt the room rate was expensive for what we actually received.

A better eating than sleeping experience

If you want delicious food in the evening and a bed for the night in a pretty village, then you won’t be disappointed. Staff were friendly too. However the room was tiny and very dated and the en suite was not much more than a cupboard, soundproofing is very poor. Breakfast was a little bit Fawlty Towers, I was told a flat white wasn’t a problem but was given a cup of black coffee,Asking for hot milk seemed to be disconcerting. Toast was forgotten, there was no salt, pepper or jams and marmalades on the table and there were apologies for the lack of yoghurt for my muesli, which was very basic and dry. The general sense is that this pub is a good restaurant, very Farrow and Ball and stripped pine downstairs but no effort upstairs. Parking was limited to one tight space because there is building work and a temporary kitchen, which has used up the remainder. This is our second time here, the last time was before Covid. This time we were here to visit Sezincote (wow) Food in the evening has been consistently good but breakfast a definite deterioration.

The car parking was poor and cramped. The alternative parking is too far away when raining. Our 'superior' room was above the kitchen and very noisy when the kitchen was operating - from 7 a.m. The window let in a howling draught. The bar area is too small. The meals were very good, especially breakfast, but the dining area is not sufficiently spacious and tends to be noisy. The beers were nothing special. The Mousetrap is, however, close enough to the centre of the village and there is a pleasant walk along the river by the old mill if you walk away from the village and take the 'Windrush Way', which is signposted. All things considered, I would say it did not represent good value for the money. Better to stay at a Premier Inn and travel in daily to visit the village. The village is very popular with tourists though, so parking might be a problem. Try Burford instead!

Tourist hell hole

Sadly there was no parking available with this hotel. The area is so touristy there in nowhere to park, absolute hell hole. Coaches and coach parties everywhere, you cant walk along the paths without bumping into people. everything is overpriced as its a tourist trap! The only parking options if you cant walk far are on yellow lines! We had to stay at another hotel in the end as with a blue badge i cant walk miles so the stay was impossible.

We will stay again.

Lovely homely friendly place. They kindly let us check in early as we needed to change for a funeral. So I am not sure if normally shower gel is provided, there was soap which I used. Note to self 'pack some' Beautiful room very clean & comfy

Food was great!! We were there during intense heat and to say least no AC but would have been nice to have a bigger fan for room.

Very nice stay, clean & comfortable, good food, easy parking and close to all we wanted to see. One very minor downfall was the noise from a dishwasher/kitchen below our room. Would happily stay again.
