So….. it seemed like a great find, a “family room” for 500 bucks on a Saturday near Foxwoods. What it became was a realization that there is a reason I am a Marriott Ambassador and cannot trust independently owned hotels in Connecticut. Trust me I have stayed at beautiful independently owned hotels across the globe, just not CT. Here are my notes for those looking to stay here and reserve the elusive “family room”
- The family room is two 1 bed rooms connecting by a door. It’s terrible.
- The hotel has hardly any sound proofing. I take it is due to the fact it was an Elks lodge prior and no one gives a crap what noises come from an elk lodge.
- Check in was simple, but there was no explanation of anything. After further review, the owner, who was photographed in a press release was the one who checked us in. Well done sir, perhaps “two bottles of Poland springs water” is sufficient to get some people’s juices flowing, but I’d like a little foreplay before I get charged 550 for a night.
- Rooms were fine but and this is a BIG BUT. The beds were TERRIBLE. And forgive me if I am wrong, but the idea is to sleep at a hotel and I am pretty sure that is what I was paying for. The beds were THE HARDEST beds I have ever hardly slept on. Not even joking and I have an orthopedic extra firm bed at home!!!! If you like soft beds you should buy 40 pillows at Walmart and sleep on the street! You may get wet but you will save 300 bucks of the rack rate!!!!
