Hotel in beautiful setting
We stay in this hotel at least twice a year when we visit family who live very close by. Lovely setting, large car park. Hotel rooms - some are looking very 'tired', others have been redecorated and very nice but all a good size. Bathrooms clean but could do with an upgrade. Breakfast good. Staff friendly.

sad & tired
we had a adapted room as we needed a walk in shower. The tap,on the washbasin was faulty, the facilities were tired looking. There was only one chair in a twin room. Although an adapted room it was at the end of a corridor furthest from reception & dining, but closest to the emergency exit!

Cheap and (a bit) cheerful
I stayed at this hotel as I was attending a murder mystery evening. I paid for a standard room, which was huge, and didn't cost too much money so perhaps I should have adjusted my expectations. It was very dated, the carpet so old that it had wrinkled up in multiple places and I tripped over it several times. There were no plug sockets next to the bed, and the only place to plug in the hairdryer was several meters away from the mirror, so very impractical. The bed was comfortable enough for one night. The bathroom is dated too and not very practical. The bath was so narrow that if I'd pulled the shower curtain across then it would have wrapped itself around me. The only other option to have a shower meant the bathroom flooding. My room was quite noisy and overlooked the refuse yard so when all of the glass bottles were taken out at midnight I heard the crashing. I also must have been near the plant room as there was a constant loud hum. The food we had at the murder mystery was pretty good. Breakfast was decent too, except when we asked if more hot food was being brought out we were told that the chef only refills if when completely empty. We pointed out that that reasoning meant our table wouldn't be able to eat at the same time as there wasn't enough for everyone. Eventually the server agreed to get enough fresh hot food so we could eat together. I don't think we should have had to fight for this! Overall the stay was ok. Would I return? Probably not.

Needs some tlc
The hotel had a couple of leaks coming from the roof and buckets on the floor along the holiday - would need some attention. But otherwise a very pleasant stay!

A country pad near Filton
Beautiful location, in the country yet so close to Filton area. Large hotel, in an old country home, with quiet wing(s) and overlooking a large English garden.

Avoid
Very tired and work hotel that is in major need of investment. Booked for a double room, got a twin, so had to wear socks in bed as I’m 6’5” and the room was freezing. Also now in garage getting a £450 quote to replace wheel damaged by massive potholes in the drive. Worst nights sleep in years.

8/10 pretty good
Lovely place, great facilities. I would recommend it.
Only downfalls are poor illumination at night driving in and sign posting for disability access is nowhere to be seen.
the duvet is luxury but only suitable if it’s -5c we both was burning up with the heat.
But other than that all good. Breakfast was cheap and plentiful, was a nice surprise

Nice hotel
We had a nice stay at the hotel, just for one night with family. The staff were very helpful & friendly.
The hotel itself is large and has extensive grounds.
The room was quite cold when we arrived (November) but once we closed the window and started the heating it was fine & it was comfortable.
Breakfast looked delicious with a good variety of foods, but the warming apparatus for the cooked breakfast wasn’t keeping the food warm, and the plates were also cold, so that was disappointing.

My opinion
Lovely hotel in lovely grounds but in need of a little TLC and modernisation. Service a little slow for evening meal but food good.. Self service breakfast usually really good but disappointed on this visit. No plates/bowls out had to ask, missing breakfast items and food not hot. Saturday Breakfast cooked to order but still not hot Room comfortable but carpet poorly fitted so a bit of a trlip haazard. Could do with some sound proofing for rooms above the function rooms as music very loud and could clearly hear the songs being played.

Friendly staff but in need of some tlc
Staff were lovely and grounds beautiful but the room itself was not in a great condition. Our dog immediately found a mouldy ice cream lid behind the curtains, and the shower was so old and worn you couldn’t see how to work it. The bed was very uncomfortable and the place is so old and creaky you could hear every movement in the room above us.
The bar area was really nice and it was great to find a dog friendly place but the rooms seemed pretty tired and in need of some tlc
